Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Linh (26 years old, Thai Binh) said that she graduated in 2021 when the basic salary was 1,490,000 VND, multiplied by the coefficient of 2.34, she received a salary of 3.5 million VND/month. At that time, this salary was only enough to cover basic living expenses and could not save any money.
Ms. Linh shared that after graduating, she got married and had a child nearly a year later. The meager amount could not help the female employee cover essential family expenses, especially when her husband's income was unstable.
Therefore, Ms. Linh decided to quit her job in the public sector to work for a private enterprise. Up until now, Ms. Linh regrets her decision. Because the new salary, according to Ms. Linh, can basically meet living standards. Comparing her salary with friends of the same age, Ms. Linh realized her past decision was a mistake.
"More than three years of working, changing jobs twice, my current income is only 7 million VND/month. Meanwhile, friends working for the government have had their coefficients increased and enjoy many allowances. Applying the new basic salary, their income is significantly higher than my current salary," Ms. Linh pondered.
Therefore, deep down, Ms. Linh has had the intention and is ready to take the civil servant or public employee exam.
"I have asked friends to inquire if the upcoming workplace is recruiting any positions related to my field of study to prepare for the exam. I also frequently join civil service exam groups to ask for materials and experience from seniors. If I pass, I will resign from my current job," Ms. Linh said.
Thinking about her decision to choose the private education sector to work four years ago, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien (27 years old, Nam Dinh) feels disadvantaged.
"Four years after graduation, my salary is not fixed, entirely dependent on the school's enrollment results, fluctuating between 5 - 6.5 million VND/month, with a lot of work and pressure. If I had applied to a public kindergarten back then, my current income would be the same as my friends, not to mention other benefits and without too much worry," Ms. Hien said.
Ms. Hien said that this basic salary increase really surprised her. This is the highest adjustment she has ever seen.
"This year, the government has significantly increased the salary for officials, civil servants, and public employees. With the upcoming salary reform, I think it will be even higher. Now, working in private schools is not easy, achieving a salary of 7 million VND/month," Ms. Hien said.
Therefore, during this time, Ms. Hien checks the information pages of the Provincial Department of Home Affairs, district, and commune people's committees daily to update recruitment information. The female teacher said that as long as there is a recruitment, even if she has to work 20km away, she is ready.
