To give workers' children a complete Mid-Autumn Festival
At Pou Hung Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Ninh Thanh ward, Tay Ninh province, more than 100 workers participated in the 14th Mid-Autumn Lantern Making Contest. Hands familiar with production work together created colorful lanterns, showing the ingenuity, creativity and solidarity of union members and workers.
It is worth mentioning that the program does not only stop at a playground for workers. The organizers also presented 200 cakes and lanterns to union members' children, and encouraged 11 children who are union members' children in particularly difficult circumstances. The activity was organized by the grassroots Trade Union in coordination with the Board of Directors of the enterprise, thereby creating more connection between the enterprise, the Trade Union and the employee's family.
Lanterns made from workers' hands therefore carry a special meaning. It is not only a Mid-Autumn gift, but also an image of cohesion in a working collective. After working hours, workers have more space to play and socialize; their children have more beautiful memories of where their parents are working.
In B'Lao ward, Lam Dong province, care is also being implemented in a practical direction. From September 9 to 13, the Ward Trade Union coordinated with grassroots Trade Unions to give Mid-Autumn cakes to workers at many businesses. In particular, 3 units including B'Laofood Joint Stock Company, Tan Thanh Nam Import-Export Co., Ltd. and First Team Vietnam Garment Co., Ltd. Branch presented gifts to a total of 1,707 union members and workers, with a total value of more than 398.6 million VND.
Along with giving gifts, the Trade Union of B'Lao Ward also coordinates to organize sports activities and Trade Union meals, creating an atmosphere of solidarity and attachment among union members and workers. According to the Ward Trade Union, these activities not only have material value but also show companionship and concern for the spiritual life of workers.
A gift, more than just joy
Notably, in Da Nang, Mid-Autumn Festival care is directly directed to children of union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
The City Labor Federation is expected to give 8,000 gifts to children aged 5 to 15 who are children of union members and workers in difficult circumstances. In which, priority is given to children with disabilities, suffering from dangerous diseases, orphans, parents with labor accidents and other difficult cases. Each gift is worth 300,000 VND, including cash and gifts, with a total budget of 2.4 billion VND.
Not only giving gifts, the City Labor Federation also plans to organize 2 "Full Moon Night" programs, each program with 300 children participating. Children are allowed to play in a safe and healthy space; for children who cannot participate directly, gifts are transferred to ward and commune trade unions, grassroots trade unions, grassroots trade unions and grassroots trade unions in industrial parks and high-tech parks for handover.
This approach shows an important point in Trade Union activities: Caring must go to the right people, the right circumstances and minimize leaving difficult families behind.
In particular, resources for Mid-Autumn Festival do not only rely on the budget of the upper-level Trade Union. Trade union levels in Da Nang are encouraged to mobilize more resources at units to expand the number of children being cared for. City Trade Union resources play a fundamental role, while grassroots Trade Unions proactively mobilize more social resources to organize activities suitable to actual conditions.
This is a noteworthy direction, because an effective care activity does not necessarily have to start with really large programs. The important thing is that resources are used in the right place, creating a real impact on the worker's family.
Contributing to making workers feel secure at work
A Mid-Autumn Festival gift worth a few hundred thousand VND may not significantly change the material life of a worker's family. But the value of the activity does not only lie in the amount of money or the gift.
For a worker who has just gone through hard working days, the fact that their child receives a cake, a gift, participates in a nightclub or has a fun time with friends is a precious sharing. More importantly, caring for children of union members is also a direct way to care for workers. When issues related to children's education, play and spiritual life are concerned by the Trade Union organization, workers will feel more clearly the role of the organization representing them.
This is especially meaningful for workers' families with limited incomes, who have to rent rooms, are far from home or have young children. In those conditions, a thoughtful Mid-Autumn Festival activity not only brings joy to children but also helps parents reduce some pressure.
Mid-Autumn Festival becomes a small but meaningful test for Trade Union activities: Does the organization really understand the lives of union members, does it know what workers need and can it bring care to their families?
And when those activities are maintained regularly, the value received is not only joy on a holiday. It is also the bond between workers and businesses, between union members and the Trade Union organization.
Mid-Autumn Festival is originally Tet for children, but for workers' families, it is also an opportunity to see that the silent contributions of workers are recognized. A cake, a lantern, a festival night or a small gift may not be materially large, but they have a spiritual weight.
Because behind each worker is a family, behind each working hour are growing children. Caring for those children is also contributing to making workers feel secure in working, attached to the business and the Trade Union organization.
