According to the Hue City Labor Federation, Mr. Le Coi is a trade union member working at Niem Tin 17.4 Co., Ltd., under the Hue City Association of the Blind.
Previously, Mr. Coi had good health and bright eyes like everyone else. Leaving his hometown to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business, he met and married his current wife. The couple saved a sum of money and planned to open a small workshop to process garments.
The incident happened when he was robbed of property while on the road and was seriously injured. The money the couple saved had to be used for treatment. Despite treatment, his vision could not return to what it was before.
The couple then returned to their hometown. The family is classified as a poor household, with income mainly from the work of the couple and allowances for people with disabilities.
Mr. Coi's family is one of 5 families in particularly difficult circumstances who were given free family photos in the June Welfare Program on Vietnamese Family Day, June 28, implemented by Hue City Labor Federation in coordination with partners.
For his family, the photo set is a gift to help preserve moments of reunion with loved ones.
Mr. Coi said that because his family is classified as a poor household, for many years he has regularly received attention from the Trade Union organization.
In addition to the family photo program, union members in difficult circumstances are also supported through many activities such as Workers' Month, Tet Sum vay, Trade Union Tet Market, Trade Union Shelter and union member welfare programs.
Each program has a different form, from material support, housing to health care and spiritual life, but all are aimed at union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
