On the afternoon of November 19, Mr. Nguyen Thai Vu, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of HD Hyundai Vietnam Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., said that due to the complicated developments of floods, the Trade Union has proposed that the Company let workers take early leave to ensure safety.
From 12:30 on the same day, about 1,000 workers in areas at risk of flooding were allowed to return early. At 4pm, about 2,000 more workers from other departments were also arranged to get on the bus 1 hour earlier than usual. With the force of workers handing over the night shift, the Company arranged main route vehicles in Ninh Hoa to support travel.
It is expected that on November 20, workers living in flooded areas will continue to have a day off; those who can move safely will be taken by the Company to the factory.
In the past 2 days, heavy rain combined with increased flood discharge from reservoirs has caused many areas in Khanh Hoa to continue to be deeply flooded. To ensure safety, many businesses have adjusted working hours and given workers early leave.
Ms. Trinh Thi Hong Van, Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company, informed that factories in Dien Phu and Cam Thinh Dong have allowed workers to take a day off since November 18. As of noon on November 19, about 3,500 direct production workers have temporarily stopped working to ensure safety. The company plans to give up until November 20 and will update the working schedule according to weather developments.
At the same time, businesses in Khanh Hoa are urgently counting the damage, monitoring the flooding situation of workers' housing to have timely support plans.
