Flooding, 2 children are off school, workers also have to ask for leave

Her two children were absent from school due to flooding, forcing Ms. Ngoc Quyen to take a day off to look after them.

Ms. Ngoc Quyen (worker at Thang Long Industrial Park, Hanoi) said that this morning, the school where her two children study (3rd and 1st grades) informed that due to the weather conditions affected by storm No. 11, there was very heavy rain and thunderstorms, so the school decided to let students stay home all day.

Husband still works, not comfortable leaving 2 children at home while the weather is complicated, not thinking much, Ms. Quyen calls her manager to ask for leave to stay home and look after her children.

"The safety of children is the most important thing. My two children are still young, if I live in a rented room without an adult, I won't be able to work with peace of mind, so I took a day off work," said Ms. Quyen. According to the female worker, the premises of her boarding house were not flooded.

According to the reporter, the heavy rain on the morning of October 7 has greatly affected the daily life and travel of workers.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trong (residing in Hai Boi village, Thien Phuc commune), working as a worker in Quang Minh Industrial Park. He said that he works the night shift and has to deal with rain in the morning, but because he takes the main road, it is high, so there is no flooding. "Some nearby roads were flooded up to half a wheel, greatly affecting people's travel," said Mr. Trong. On the way back, Mr. Trong only encountered rain, not having to cross any section of road that was too flooded.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang said that the company where he works is about 20 km from the boarding house (Bau village, Thien Phuc commune). This morning (October 7), due to heavy rain and heavy thunderstorms, I proactively texted the leaders to ask for permission to work online at home. The leaders also agreed, said Mr. Thang. According to him, although the road is not too flooded, the rain can cause unsafety as well as many inconveniences, while his work can be done online, without having to go to the company, so he chose to work at home.

According to Mr. Thang, the road at the foot of CT1A apartment building in the workers' housing area is flooded, making it quite difficult to travel. Many workers working in industrial parks have to choose another way further, avoiding this section of road to prevent the risk of engine failure.

According to the reporter's records, due to heavy rain and flooding, the leaders of some companies in industrial parks in Hanoi have proactively notified workers to take a day off on October 7 and will make up for it later.
