On October 7, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Thuy - Principal of Ba Don Primary School No. 1 (Ba Don Ward, Quang Tri Province) sent an official apology to parents and students regarding the unsatisfactory lunch on October 6.
In the letter, Ms. Thuy expressed her sincere apologies and accepted responsibility for the shortcomings in the process of managing and supervising menus and portions, causing the quality of the meals to not be guaranteed.
Ms. Thuy said that immediately after receiving the feedback, the school verified and worked with the catering unit to learn from experience, rectify the process, and avoid repeating similar incidents. The school is also committed to strengthening daily supervision, improving the quality of meals and ensuring nutrition and food safety for boarding students.

"The school as a whole is committed to strengthening daily supervision more closely, in order to improve the quality of lunch services for students. We will not let similar mistakes happen in the future, the letter stated.
In the coming time, the school will also take photos of food rations and send them to class groups, homeroom teachers are responsible for sending them to their class groups so that parents can easily supervise and feel more secure.
Previously, on the evening of October 6, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Thuy confirmed to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper that the image circulating online was the school's lunch on the same day. The scene had nearly 600 students providing boarding meals, provided by a contract enterprise.
According to the explained supplier, due to negligence in preparation and scarce pork sources after storms, the portion sizes are not guaranteed. The stir-fried squash and garlic in the menu that day was transported slowly, so it was temporarily replaced with peanut salt.

The image of a rice tray with 3 pieces of sausage, 1 boiled egg, a dish of sesame salt and a bowl of vegetable soup, considered a meal worth 25,000 VND, has made the public think that the portion is too small and not commensurate with the price.
On the same afternoon, the People's Committee of Ba Don Ward said it had received the information, worked directly with the school and requested a specific report, reviewing the entire meal supply process to ensure quality and safety for students.
