On August 7, 2025, the Government issued Decree 220/2025/ND-CP amending and supplementing a number of articles of a number of Decrees in the fields of national defense and military when organizing local governments at two levels.
Accordingly, Article 8 of Decree 72/2020/ND-CP (amended and supplemented by Decree 220/2025/ND-CP, Decree 16/2025/ND-CP) stipulates the monthly allowance regime for Village team leaders as follows:
- For Village Team Leader: The monthly allowance level is decided by the Provincial People's Committee and submitted to the People's Council of the same level, but not lower than VND 1,170,000.
In addition, according to Clause 1, Article 7 of Decree 72/2020/ND-CP (amended and supplemented by Decree 16/2025/ND-CP), the allowance for the position of commander of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces is paid monthly, the benefit level is as follows:

- Village team leader: 280,800 VND and receive an additional 100% allowance for the position of platoon leader when concurrently holding the position of on-site militia platoon leader, or 100% allowance for the position of platoon leader when concurrently holding the position of on-site militia platoon leader. In case the village organizes a militia group on site, it will receive an additional 100% of the position allowance of the squad leader.
