Hundreds of people awarded ASEAN professional engineer certificates
To be certified, these engineers had to go through 10 days of in-depth theoretical study and 820 hours of practical practice on the power grid on modern heat testing and analysis methods according to international standard ISO 18436-7 guided by experts from the IRT Thermal Photo Academy (Canada).
Mr. Luan Quoc Hung - Deputy General Director of EVNHCMC - said that in recent years, EVNHCMC has always been a pioneer in training and improving the qualifications of workers, especially young workers, including many programs meeting international standards. Currently, EVNHCMC has hundreds of engineers certified as ASEAN professional engineers. To meet the development orientation in the future, apply new science and technology, and digital transformation, EVNHCMC will continue to strengthen international training for employees in the unit.
“Training and improving the scientific and technical level for EVNHCMC's human resources is to meet the increasingly deep international integration requirements in the field of energy and technology, and at the same time implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation,” Mr. Hung said.
Hoping to have more opportunities to improve skills and access new technologies
Mr. Nguyen Tang Phap - a young engineer (born in 1992), currently Head of Production Quality Improvement Department, Samsung HCMC CE Complex Electronics Co., Ltd. (SEHC), who has had many initiatives and technical improvements from 2022 to February 2025 that have profited the company nearly 17 billion VND - shared that his initiatives, technical improvements, and bringing technology into the factory are not a story of big, distant ideas, but start from very closely observing each production stage, each small operation of workers on the production line, to find points that can be improved.
We always hope to have more opportunities to be trained, improve our skills, access new technologies to adapt to modern production trends, digital transformation and automation. When learning and developing, workers not only improve their self-worth but also contribute more effectively to businesses and society," said Mr. Phap.
Ms. Pham Thi Hong Yen - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that in many businesses, the young workforce has many outstanding advantages. They have the ability to quickly access new technologies, flexible thinking, high learning spirit and are ready to participate in the digital transformation process, proactively propose initiatives, improve processes, and apply technology to improve productivity and work efficiency.
To effectively exploit this potential, the State needs to have systematic policies to promote training and create a favorable environment for innovation. First of all, it is necessary to increase investment in digital skills, technology skills and creative thinking training programs for young workers. At the same time, it is necessary to promote linkages between educational institutions, businesses and research centers to ensure that trained human resources are close to the practical needs of the labor market. "The State needs to continue to improve scholarship programs, support training to improve qualifications and encourage research and development activities for the young workforce," Ms. Yen suggested.
The first Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Congress for the term 2025 - 2030 has issued a resolution in which it encourages and supports at least 50% of workers at enterprises to participate in studying to improve their qualifications and professional skills, and at least 75% of workers at enterprises to participate in studying life skills education contents, participating in the "Digital Literacy" program on information technology and digital technology skills.
