Can Tho e-Portal reported that Can Tho City People's Committee has a plan on implementing innovation, development and improvement of vocational education quality. Accordingly, Can Tho City identifies the development of high-quality human resources as one of the key tasks to meet the requirements of socio-economic development in the new period.
Can Tho City is particularly interested in supporting retraining and regular training for workers. By 2030, about 25% of the labor force will be re-trained or trained to improve professional skills.
This is considered an important opportunity for workers to adapt to changes in technology, change careers or improve their capacity to have stable jobs and better incomes.

For students after graduating from lower and upper secondary schools, career guidance and streaming will continue to be promoted. Can Tho sets a target of attracting from 30 - 35% of lower secondary school graduates and from 50 - 55% of high school graduates to participate in the vocational education system.
By 2030, Can Tho City strives for the rate of trained workers with degrees and certificates to reach 35 - 40%; 80% of workers have skills in using information technology.
The system of vocational education institutions will also be comprehensively upgraded, aiming to form high-quality training institutions, meeting the human resource requirements for key economic sectors of the city and the Mekong Delta region.
