Good worker support platform
Over the past time, the Da Nang Employment Service Center has coordinated with Da Nang College to open many free vocational training classes for workers enjoying unemployment insurance such as food processing techniques, bartenders, digital graphics, sales - supermarket management.
These are occupations that are both suitable for market trends and originate from the actual needs of workers.
According to Mr. Tran Trung Kien - Director of Da Nang Employment Service Center, the unit's goal is to create stable and sustainable jobs for workers through coordination with vocational education institutions to organize diverse training occupations, closely following market needs and learners' aspirations.
Workers after the course not only have more skills to find jobs but can also create jobs or rejoin the labor market," Mr. Kien said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ho Viet Ha - Principal of Da Nang College - informed that from May 2025, the school has coordinated to open 6 vocational training classes for workers enjoying unemployment insurance.
Notably, some new majors such as digital graphics or sales - supermarket management have been introduced into teaching to meet the new recruitment trend.
The school commits to training in a practical direction, focusing on "holding hands and guiding", helping students quickly grasp vocational skills and can apply them immediately after the course.
Another noteworthy point is that classes are held in the evening from Monday to Friday. This arrangement is quite suitable for unemployed workers who are still taking advantage of working during the day or having to take care of their families.
From supporting unemployment insurance procedures to vocational training counseling, job connections and expanding the job transaction network to many areas, especially mountainous areas, Da Nang has shown no small efforts in accompanying workers.
This is a positive foundation, but in the context of a rapidly changing labor market, the needs of workers today are no longer limited to learning new professions to find jobs in the short term.
Hoping to study further to keep the job for a long time
In fact, many workers who are working stably also want to be supported in training to improve their skills to adapt to the increasing demands of businesses.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan - an electronics worker at Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, shared that after nearly 7 years of working, she realized that the production line is becoming more and more modern, with many stages being automated.
If I only do simple jobs like before, it is very easy to be replaced. I hope there will be more short-term training classes on machine operation, quality control or production management skills to be able to develop to a higher position," Ms. Lan said.
With the same mentality, Mr. Pham Van Dung, a mechanical worker working in Lien Chieu ward, said that he wants to learn more about operating machines and maintaining modern equipment, but there are currently not many suitable classes in terms of time and cost.
During the day, I go to work, and in the evening I still take care of my family, so if there are weekend classes or short thematic classes, it will be easier for workers to participate," Mr. Dung expressed.
These desires show that vocational training for workers today should not only focus on the unemployed group, but needs to be expanded to skills upgrading training for working people.
Da Nang is orienting the development of high technology, logistics, supporting industries and high-quality services. This means that the labor force must also be upgraded accordingly.
In addition to the professions being implemented, the city may study opening more training courses on automation, industrial electricity, precision mechanics, logistics, e-commerce, foreign language communication, digital skills...
More importantly, the training program should be designed flexibly according to short modules, accumulate certificates, organize overtime or weekends so that workers can both study and work.
Investing in improving skills is actually investing in the future of workers and the city's competitiveness. With better skills, workers not only find jobs easily but can also maintain jobs sustainably, increase income and improve the quality of life.
Da Nang has done a good first step in supporting workers to overcome difficult times. What workers are waiting for at this time is for the city to continue to do better not only to help them return to the labor market, but also to have enough capacity to go long-distance in an increasingly competitive market.
