The Da Nang City Labor Federation will organize a dialogue conference between city leaders, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and workers on May 9, 2026, attracting about 400 participants. In addition to familiar issues such as housing, employment and salaries and bonuses, workers also propose current issues such as supporting training to improve skills in the context of AI impacting work.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, an electronics worker at Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, shared, "I want to have short-term training classes on machine operation, quality control and production management skills to advance.
In the past 5 years, thousands of initiatives of union members and workers have been recognized and applied, bringing value and profits of hundreds of billions of VND. The initiatives mainly focus on automation, production optimization, saving electricity and raw materials, improving labor safety and reducing environmental emissions. Many typical individuals have been honored, with initiatives to help businesses save billions of VND each year or improve productivity.
Many union members and workers in Da Nang believe that a transparent and stable reward mechanism is needed for initiatives that bring benefits. Mr. Duong Van Dam - technical staff at Hoa Khanh Industrial Park - shared that although workers are very passionate about technical improvements, the recognition regime is not uniform. The reward levels at different businesses, some places are good, but some places only encourage symbolic, making workers unreliable to invest time and effort in improvements. Workers believe that if the rights of initiatives are clearly stipulated in the labor agreement, it will avoid the situation of emotional recognition and disproportionate rewards.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of Da Nang Labor Federation - agreed and said that for the creative labor movement to develop sustainably, in addition to contests and honoring typical examples, it is necessary to build a specific incentive mechanism. He emphasized that when rights are concretized in agreements, it will be a great driving force for the creative movement.
