According to records, from noon on December 24th (February 11th), the western gateway area of Ho Chi Minh City, the flow of workers carrying bags and gifts rushed down to the western provinces, gradually increasing. They closed a year of making a living in the city to return to reunite with their families. For many workers, this is the most anticipated trip of the year, after months of hard work.
All year round, I just look forward to these days to go home and have a Tet meal with my family," shared Mr. Nguyen Hoang Hai (51 years old, residing in Chau Phong commune, An Giang province).
According to Mr. Hai, income in 2025 will not increase much, even at times working hours will be reduced. However, everyone tries to save to have a more fulfilling Tet for their families in their hometown. "I don't dare to spend much, I just hope to have some money to bring home for my family and children at the end of the year," Mr. Hai said.
Mr. Hai believes that Tet is not only a holiday but also a rare time to make up for family affection. After many months of only contacting by phone, direct meetings have become extremely valuable. Therefore, despite the long distance, he is still determined to return to his hometown to celebrate Tet.
Working as a worker at a business in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (resident of Phu Huu commune, An Giang province) said that 2025 closes with many challenges for workers. Rising living costs, rent, electricity, water and food make workers' lives even more difficult.

We still try to stick to it, saving every penny to have a more decent Tet for our family. Going to work far away, Tet is a rare opportunity to make up for family affection. After months of only contacting by phone and video call, being able to return, sit at the Tet meal table, listen to the laughter of children, and the greetings of parents becomes extremely precious. Therefore, even though the road is far, my husband and I are still determined to return to our hometown," Ms. Tuyen said.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tien (resident of Phu Huu commune, An Giang province) shared that the year-end return trip is not only a journey home, but also a moment of silence to look back on a year that has passed. "I hope Binh Ngo 2026 will open up many new opportunities, more stable jobs, and improved income," Mr. Tien expressed.
According to Mr. Tien, for workers far from home, Tet is still the most sacred occasion of the year. "In the midst of the busyness of life, the moment of returning, being called'going home' always has a special meaning, it is the time to reunite with family and loved ones," Mr. Tien said.
