Hanoi exempts bus and urban railway tickets for 9 days of the 2026 Lunar New Year, serving people and tourists to travel conveniently.

Hanoi City will exempt fares for using subsidized public passenger transport, including buses and urban railways, to serve people and tourists during the 2026 Lunar New Year.

Information from the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center (Department of Construction), the toll exemption aims to concretize the Action Program to implement the Resolution of the 14th Party Congress, ensure social security, care for people's lives, and create conditions for people and tourists to enjoy spring and welcome Tet safely.

According to the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee, the Hanoi City Traffic Management and Operation Center coordinates with public passenger transport enterprises by bus and Hanoi Railway Company Limited to implement toll exemption for subsidized public passenger transport vehicles.

128 subsidized bus routes in the city and 2 urban railway routes including route 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong and route 3. 1 Nhon - Cau Giay are applied free of charge.

The implementation time is 9 days, from February 14, 2026 (Saturday) to the end of February 22, 2026 (Sunday), i.e. from December 27th to the end of January 6th.

Regarding the form of implementation, for passengers buying single tickets:

On bus routes, passengers are issued turn tickets according to the denomination of the route but do not have to pay for tickets.

On urban railway lines, passengers are issued 0-dong tickets according to their trip needs at the counter or buy 0-dong tickets on the current Hanoi Metro applications.

For passengers using monthly tickets (regular and priority) or free tickets (hard or virtual cards), passengers must present their tickets when participating in the service as prescribed.

The exemption of bus and urban railway tickets during the 2026 Lunar New Year is a practical activity, showing the concern of the Party and government leaders of Hanoi City for people's lives; and at the same time contributing to supporting travel needs, encouraging people to use public transport, reducing congestion, towards building a modern, civilized, and environmentally friendly Capital Hanoi.
