More motivation for workers
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai (42 years old, seafood industry worker, residing in O Mon ward, Can Tho city) said that this is good news for many direct workers.
For many years, Mr. Hai's family has had to rent a room, with room rent of about 300,000 VND/month, plus electricity, water and living expenses of more than 600,000 VND. His two children are in 7th and 10th grade, so all remaining income must be saved for food, education and daily life of the whole family.
“Workers' salaries are not the same every month, so every time the minimum wage is adjusted, workers are very happy. The 7.8% increase can help workers have an extra amount to cover their lives” - Mr. Hai shared.
Sharing the joy, Ms. Le Thi Hong (Soc Trang ward, Can Tho city), a worker at a seafood processing enterprise in Tra Noc Industrial Park, said that each time the minimum wage is adjusted, it brings motivation to workers.
For workers, a few hundred thousand VND per month is enough to cover more grocery costs, tuition fees for children or save when necessary" - Ms. Hong expressed.
Female workers also hope that after the increase is approved, businesses will soon implement it so that workers can enjoy benefits at the right time. Along with wage increases, there need to be solutions to maintain the stability of prices of essential goods.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai - a garment worker in Ninh Binh, said that increasing the minimum wage will help workers have better income and social security benefits. The regional minimum wage not only affects monthly income but is also an important basis for businesses to build salary scales and tables, directly affecting the social insurance benefits of workers.
The female worker said that at the beginning of 2026, the business where she worked adjusted the basic salary increase by about 27%. Thanks to that, when pregnant, she received maternity examination benefits and maternity allowances significantly higher than before.
The Trade Union listened and understood the aspirations of union members.
Mr. Nguyen Van Be Hai - Chairman of the grassroots trade union of Furukawa Automotive Systems Vinh Long Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that he is very happy that the National Wage Council unanimously proposed an increase of 7.8%. According to him, this is the result of the process of negotiation and dialogue in the spirit of harmonizing the interests between employees and employers.
Mr. Hai expressed his gratitude to the VGCL and trade union organizations at all levels for always listening to the thoughts and aspirations of union members, actively participating in negotiations to protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
The persistent proposal of appropriate adjustment levels shows that the Trade Union organization always accompanies workers, especially in the period when the economy is still facing many difficulties.
Sharing the same joy, according to Ms. Lam Thi Ngoc Ha - Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union of Ty Bach Co., Ltd. (Vinh Long), the proposed increase of 7.8%, higher than the adjustment of 7.2% in 2026, shows the concern of the Party, State and related agencies for the lives of workers in the context that many essential expenses are still increasing.
According to Ms. Ha, when the regional minimum wage is adjusted, not only the basic salary is increased, but many allowances, overtime pay, holiday pay, leave pay, social insurance and related regimes can also be adjusted according to regulations or collective labor agreements of enterprises, contributing to increasing actual income for workers.
Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Chairman of the Trade Union of Meiko Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hanoi) - said that increasing the minimum wage is necessary for workers to improve their lives.

Not only concerned about basic salary, as Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union, we also propose that businesses consider adjusting allowances, attendance support, travel support, housing, meals and other welfare regimes to contribute to improving the actual income for workers" - Mr. Hai said.
