Wishing for a home to feel secure and attached
After many years of working in industrial parks, the dream of settling down is still far away for many workers when they have to rent rooms in cramped conditions, rents and living expenses are constantly increasing. Therefore, the Trade Union Social Housing project is expected to help low-income workers soon stabilize their lives. Like the case of Ms. Ha Thi Thanh Thuy, from Thanh Phu commune, who has worked for many years at a garment company in Giao Long Industrial Park, has moved houses many times due to increased rents, high electricity and water bills and lack of security and order.
According to Ms. Thuy, after paying for room rent, electricity, water, food, gasoline and essential living expenses, more than half of the salary is gone. Not to mention arising expenses such as weddings, first birthdays, full-month celebrations, birthdays or unexpected events that make the accumulated amount almost zero. "I just hope to rent a social housing apartment at an affordable price to reduce spending pressure, have a stable place to live and feel secure in working for a long time" - Ms. Thuy shared.
Sharing the same wish, Mr. Le Pham Quoc Anh - security guard of Ty Bach Co., Ltd. who has been attached to the business for 5 years - said that he and his girlfriend - who is also a worker of the company - are planning to get married in the near future. However, the rented room of about 12m2 that the two are renting is only enough for a bed and a few household items, making it difficult to meet the needs of a young family with young children.
According to Mr. Quoc Anh, his biggest wish now is to rent an apartment in the Trade Union Social Housing project at a reasonable price to have a more spacious and stable living space.
Realizing the aspiration for housing for workers
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - said that the housing needs of workers are currently very large, especially migrant workers and young families.
According to him, Trade Union social housing is invested to realize the policy of caring for the lives of union members and workers; creating conditions for workers to access safe and civilized housing at reasonable costs. This is not only a social security policy but also contributes to helping workers feel secure in their work, be attached to businesses for a long time and stabilize human resources for the locality.
Mr. Duong Van Phuc - Director of Vinh Long Provincial Department of Construction - said that the whole province currently has 26 social housing projects with a scale of about 9,269 units; of which 9 projects have been completed, 12 projects are being implemented and 5 projects are carrying out procedures for investment preparation and investment invitation. The Trade Union Social Housing Project in Giao Long commune has a scale of 699 apartments, with a total investment of more than 554 billion VND, built on an area of about 3.2ha, including 4 7-story buildings along with technical infrastructure, parking lots and community living space. To date, blocks A2 and A3 have been unroofed, and the remaining items are being accelerated to put the project into operation soon, meeting the housing needs of workers.
According to Mr. Phuc, along with accelerating the progress of the Trade Union Social Housing project in Giao Long commune, the construction industry will continue to coordinate with relevant units to remove difficulties and promote other social housing projects in the area. When completed, the projects will contribute to solving the housing needs of workers, creating sustainable development momentum for industrial parks and socio-economics of the province.
