Nearly 20,000 workers enjoy Union meals
Mr. Tran Van Dong - Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Federation of Labor - shared: The first "Union Meal" organized has brought practical results, creating trust and attachment between union members and workers towards the Union organization and the unit and enterprise.
Deployed since July 2024, although it had to be interrupted for objective reasons, up to now, Ninh Thuan has had 30 grassroots trade unions (UCs) of enterprises organizing "Union Meals" with 3,181 employees participating. The total cost of organizing "Union Meals" is nearly 250 million VND, the highest meal value is 75,000 VND/meal and the lowest is 40,000 VND/meal. In addition, 13 UCs have issued plans to implement "Union Meals" but have not yet arranged a suitable time to organize them during this time.
In Phu Yen, the provincial Trade Unions have deployed to the Trade Unions to organize "Trade Union Meals".
Statistics show that in August, 9 trade unions organized "Union Meals" for 5,006 union members. The average price of a "Union Meal" in Phu Yen is 78,000 VND/meal. The highest price is 150,000 VND/meal, the lowest is 28,500 VND/meal. The total cost of organizing the "Union Meal" is nearly 222 million VND, of which nearly 126 million VND is from the union's financial resources, the rest is supported by the enterprise.
The implementation of the "Union Meal" program in Khanh Hoa province has also received a lot of support from the enterprise trade unions. As of September 2024, 102 trade unions have organized "Union Meals" for 14,028 employees with an average meal value of 50,000 VND/meal. The total cost of organizing "Union Meals" is more than 617 million VND, of which more than 281 million VND is from the union's financial resources. At the "Union Meals", the Khanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor also presented hundreds of gifts to thank employees for their long-term commitment to the union and the enterprise.
Looking forward to high quality meals
Mr. Tran Van Dac, a worker at the Seafood Processing Company in Suoi Dau Industrial Park (Cam Lam District, Khanh Hoa) excitedly shared that he had his first “Union Meal” with Nha Trang’s famous broken rice and pork chop dish. The 60,000 VND meal of the “Union Meal” is very different from the 25,000 VND meal that workers usually eat.
"I don't expect the shift meals to be as delicious as the "Union Meal", but I hope the daily shift meals will be of higher quality so that workers will have better health to work more efficiently" - Mr. Dac expressed.
Evaluating the “Union Meal”, Mr. Tran Van Dong - Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial Federation of Labor - said: From practical and daily needs, it affirms the responsibility and concern of the Trade Union organization in taking care of union members, at the same time, helping employees feel secure in working, producing, and long-term attachment to the enterprise.
This is also the basis for the Trade Union to continue to recommend to the Government to consider including shift meals as a mandatory policy that businesses are responsible for implementing for employees, ensuring employee health during work.
