On August 18, the Hanoi Employment Service Center said that in July 2026, trade and service activities continued to grow positively, making an important contribution to the capital's economic growth. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in July 2026 reached 93,200 billion VND, an increase of 2% compared to June 2026 and an increase of 19.6% compared to the same period in 2025.
Tourism activities in the Capital continue to grow strongly during the summer tourist peak, especially international tourists. In July, international visitors to Hanoi reached 455,000, an increase of 26.5% compared to the same period in 2025. Domestic tourists reached 235,000, an increase of 22.9% compared to the same period in 2025.
Transportation activities continued to grow strongly due to increased people's demand for vacation during the summer peak of 2026. The number of passenger trips in July reached 52.6 million, an increase of 0.9% compared to June and an increase of 25.2% compared to the same period in 2025. The volume of goods transported in July reached 169.5 million tons, an increase of 0.8% compared to June and an increase of 11.1% compared to the same period in 2025.
Due to global socio-economic fluctuations, the number of businesses suspending operations and dissolving tends to increase. In July, Hanoi City recorded 2,850 businesses registering for temporary suspension of operations; 1,305 businesses dissolving. In addition, the City has issued certificates to 2,847 newly established businesses; registered capital reached 38,100 billion VND; 1,091 businesses resumed operations.
In July, the total recruitment demand of businesses in the City reached 40,000 positions.
Wholesale, retail and other service activities account for 52%; manufacturing-construction industry accounts for 35.9%; transportation-warehousing activities account for 1.7%.
Regarding the salary level offered by recruiting businesses, the salary level of 10-20 million VND/month accounted for the leading position with 53.3%; the salary level of 5-10 million VND/month ranked second with 37.6% and the salary level above 20 million VND/month accounted for 8.8%.
The technical-construction block maintained its breakthrough, leading with the income of highly skilled engineers, workers and professional mechanics ranging from 16-65 million VND/month depending on the job position.
