Creating playgrounds right at work
In Hoa Xa Industrial Park (IP), cultural, artistic, and sports activities are becoming a familiar part of workers' lives. According to statistics, about 85% of enterprises with Trade Union organizations maintain regular cultural and sports activities; of which about 56% of workers participate in periodic exercises.
Without needing too large playgrounds or elaborate investments, many grassroots trade unions (CĐCS) have proactively built models suitable to the actual conditions of businesses. From folk dance and art practice sessions after work to football, table tennis, pickleball matches... workers have more space to exercise, socialize and relieve pressure after working hours.
Currently, 33/45 grassroots trade unions in Hoa Xa Industrial Park have established dance, folk dance, and art clubs. Many clubs are operating vibrantly, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate, such as at Viet Thuan Garment Co., Ltd., Youngone Nam Dinh Co., Ltd., Spectre Garment Technology Co., Ltd., Truong Tho Pharmaceutical Company...
Notably, at Youngone Nam Dinh Co., Ltd. and Lam San Company, businesses have established clubs and arranged pickleball training grounds right in the premises. Some units take advantage of dining halls and halls to place table tennis tables, creating conditions for workers to practice conveniently.
For workers, these playgrounds are not just simple health training activities. Ms. Hang Nga (worker at Viet Thuan Garment Co., Ltd.) shared: "After work, being able to participate in cultural activities with colleagues helps us relax, become healthier and have more opportunities to chat and connect with each other. When practicing together, everyone understands each other better, and the working spirit is also more comfortable.
Spreading solidarity
Not only stopping at clubs, cultural and sports movements are also concretized by grassroots trade unions with many tournaments and festivals.
At the preliminary round of the Workers' Singing Contest in industrial parks in Nam Dinh and Hoa Xa areas, 5/9 grassroots trade unions participated with 8/15 performances. In which, the performance of Viet Thuan Garment Co., Ltd. won the First Prize; two performances of Spectre Garment Technology Co., Ltd. and Truong Tho Pharmaceutical Company won the Third Prize.
In football, some companies maintain clubs. For 3 consecutive years 2024, 2025 and 2026, units representing workers, civil servants and laborers throughout the province participated in the qualifying round of the National CNVCLĐ Football Tournament in the Northern region organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Every year, grassroots trade unions and businesses in Hoa Xa area also coordinate to organize many activities such as football, tug of war, pickleball, folk dances, fashion design, folk games, art festivals... attracting hundreds of thousands of participants.
Many models are being deployed flexibly such as "Workers' Sports Hour", "Women's Football Club", "Healthy Boarding Houses", suitable for the conditions and needs of each labor group.
Ms. Dao Xuan Thanh Huyen - Deputy Head of the Trade Union Committee of Hoa Xa IP area - said that the important point for movements to maintain and develop is to originate from the actual needs of union members and workers. Besides the proactiveness of the Trade Union organization, the companionship of businesses also plays an important role. Many businesses have supported funding, invested in facilities or arranged time for workers to practice.
The effectiveness of the movement continues to be recognized at the Ninh Binh Provincial Workers' Sports Festival for the second time in 2026. Hoa Xa Industrial Park won the overall consolation prize, including 1 Gold Medal and 1 Bronze Medal in pickleball.
