Save more than 5 million VND thanks to Union car
From 5am on February 2nd, the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, 7 Union buses were present in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa, ready to take 400 workers back to Hanoi to prepare for the first working day of the Lunar New Year.
Ms. Truong Thi Hanh - a worker at Matsuo Industries Vietnam Co., Ltd. - is one of 400 workers who were taken home by the union bus to celebrate Tet and then brought back to Hanoi after the Tet holiday. Ms. Hanh has 3 children, the oldest is 6 years old, the second is 4 years old and the other is almost 7 months old.
Without the Union car, because of the small children, the mother and her four children would have to take a taxi both the way back to Thanh Hoa and back to Hanoi. Ms. Hanh said that if she took a taxi, it would cost about 4-5 million VND. This is not a small amount, if not quite a large amount for her and her husband's income.
Ms. Hanh's husband is also a worker but works for a private company. The couple's income is about 15 million VND/month, including Ms. Hanh's overtime pay. The mother and her children are picked up by the union bus in Ha Trung (Thanh Hoa). Her husband rides a motorbike from Thanh Hoa to Hanoi, carrying pork and vegetables to make food for the days after Tet in the city. Due to difficult circumstances, every year Ms. Hanh gets to ride the union bus for free. But one year, because the company closed early, her family took an outside bus home. This year, being able to ride the union bus both when going back to their hometown and when returning to Hanoi, Ms. Hanh's family is very secure because the seats are spacious and safe.
The luggage for Mai Van Quy's family returning to the city from Nga Son also includes vegetables and food, including a crate of fish. The vegetables are mainly Malabar spinach, lettuce, and dill, enough to eat for the first week after Tet holiday. This is the second year Quy's family has taken the CDB bus.
Mr. Quy emotionally said: “My family and I are very grateful to the Union. Riding the Union's bus is not only spacious and safe, but we are also proactive and save time because the bus moves faster and does not pick up passengers along the way. Because of this concern from the Union, I, as well as other employees, will try to contribute more to the company and the Union organization. “I hope the Union organization will grow stronger to represent the legitimate and legal rights of union members and employees,” Mr. Quy shared.
Emotional tears on the day of returning to the city
Holding her 8-month-old child in her arms, Ms. Le Thi Khuyen tearfully said that after 14 years working in Hanoi as a factory worker, this year her family was able to take the Union bus both to their hometown to celebrate Tet and to return to work. What moved her was not only the opportunity to travel in a spacious bus, avoiding motion sickness, but also the concern of the Union officers. “The officers of the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Union left home at 1:30 a.m. on the 5th day of the Lunar New Year to Thanh Hoa and Nghe An to pick up workers. This really made us feel warm, and the Union was truly our second family,” Ms. Khuyen shared.
On the bus to pick up workers, leaders of the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Trade Union and local trade unions visited, encouraged, and gave lucky money to union members, helping workers to enter the new year with joy.
Accompanying union members and workers on the route from Ha Trung (Thanh Hoa) to Hanoi, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Trade Union and Mr. Ngo The Anh - Trade Union of Nghi Son Economic Zone and Industrial Zones of Thanh Hoa province gave lucky money to the children of workers and workers with the wish to bring health and luck to everyone, especially when entering the first working day of the year of At Ty 2025.
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thang, the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Trade Union was directed and assigned by the Hanoi City Labor Confederation to implement the sending off and welcoming of workers to their hometowns for Tet and to return to work. To carry out the work well, all officials of the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Trade Union have arranged their time, including Tet holidays, to ensure the pick-up and drop-off of workers. Organizing the pick-up and drop-off of workers not only takes care of union members and workers but also accompanies businesses to ensure the workforce right after Tet.
Mr. Thang also said that the full return of union members and workers to work will facilitate the launch of emulation and the successful implementation of targets when entering the era of national development.
Another “Trade Union Tet Journey - Spring 2025” has come to an end, opening the first working days of a new year of the nation’s rise. That journey was made by the Vietnam Trade Union and tens of thousands of union members and workers nationwide.
On February 2, the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Trade Union organized 7 free cars to pick up 400 union members and workers from the Industrial and Export Processing Zones from Nghe An and Thanh Hoa to return to Hanoi to start the new working year - February 3.
