From a tailor to a director who knows how to share
After finishing grade 12, in 1998, Ms. Ngoc (born in 1981, residing in Dai Hao village, Trieu Binh commune, Quang Tri province) left her hometown to go to Ho Chi Minh City to start a business. A year working as a garment worker helped her accumulate experience, and was then trusted to manage a 10-ted workshop with 300 workers. After six years of working in the profession, she deeply understands the hardships and disadvantages of workers abroad - homesickness, high living costs, and precariousness when they cannot save anything after many years of work.
In 2004, she returned to her hometown to start a family and then worked as a manager at Hoa Tho Sewing Factory (Nam Dong Ha Industrial Park) for 10 years. But she still had a headache thinking: "The price is like having a small garment factory in the countryside for the people, especially women, who have a job near their home, how much is enough to know".
In 2019, Ms. Ngoc quit her job at the factory and started opening a family garment factory with 10 machines and 10 workers. Everyone works flexibly, "time off, come when free, take a break when busy", mienles to complete the product. The factory opens early and closes late so that everyone can arrange a time suitable for family planning and children.
As the number of workers increased, she decided to rent land near her home, establish Dai Song Tien Garment Export Company Limited and build a spacious factory. Since then, the supply of goods has always been stable, workers do not have to take a day off.
Currently, the company has 50 employees and established a grassroots trade union since 2020. Average income is from 4-10 million VND/month, supported with lunch of 18,000 VND/meal. During holidays and Tet, the company always has bonuses, helping employees feel secure in their commitments.
Even though she is a director, Ms. Ngoc still helps with fabric cutting, supplying goods, and delivering goods. Here, we are like a family, ready to support each other in work and life, she shared.
Where disadvantaged women can rely
Thanks to flexible and humane policies, Ms. Ngoc's garment factory has become a support for many difficult circumstances. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (born in 1983, Bac Phuoc village, Nam Cua Viet commune) is in difficult circumstances when her husband passed away, raising 3 children alone. Knowing Ms. Thuy's situation, when she started working at the garment factory, the company created conditions for her to go late and return early to take care of her children, but each month she also earned 5 million VND, enough to cover her living expenses.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (born in 1992, Dai Hao village) - a single mother with an elderly mother and young children was hired to work at the factory. "Thanks to this job, I have a stable income, do not have to go far, and am regularly encouraged by the union" - Ms. Hue confided.
Ms. Le Thi Thanh Tuyet, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Dai Song Tien Garment Import-Export Company Limited, said: The Trade Union always accompanies workers, not only taking care of material things but also encouraging their spirit. Whoever has their own work, the other women are willing to help to complete the product together".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Tuyet, Deputy Head of the Trade Union Work Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Federation of Labor, said that Dai Song Tien Company is a typical model of caring for the lives of workers in rural areas. Not only creating jobs, Ms. Ngoc also sows the spirit of humanity and sharing among workers.
From an ordinary tailor to a kind female director, Ms. Tran Thi My Ngoc has lit the fire of the profession and humanity in the countryside of Trieu Binh, so that each needle line not only makes a product but also connects the fates of people to rise up together.
