Trung Gia commune is one of the areas most severely affected by the recent floods in Hanoi.
By October 12, the water level of the Cau River had receded significantly, traffic on National Highway 3 through Trung Gia commune was smooth again after many days of being cut off.
In Song Cong village, many households took the opportunity to clean, sanitize, and clean their houses after many days soaked in floodwaters. However, there are still some small alleys and households that have not escaped the flooding.

Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Ngo Thi Van (Song Cong village, Trung Gia commune) said that the recent flood caused the water to rise nearly 2m.
"The water rose rapidly from the early morning of October 8, my whole family had to quickly move our belongings and equipment to the attic. The family has an elderly mother-in-law so we have to ask the authorities to help us get to a safe place" - Ms. Van said.
The flooding has been going on since the beginning of the week, but by the end of the week the water has not yet receded, making travel difficult and business stagnant. The family's daily life was disrupted by power outages and lack of clean water.

Ms. Van said that the house built by her parents-in-law more than 40 years ago was degraded and rusty with steel. The prolonged flooding has caused a 40-year-old woman to worry that her house will deteriorate further.
She also expressed concern that prolonged flooding will create conditions for mosquitoes to breed, increasing the risk of dengue fever outbreak. Therefore, Ms. Van hopes that after the water recedes, the authorities will quickly help clean up the village as well as spray disinfectants to ensure the safety of the people.

Right next to Ms. Van's house, Ms. Dang Thi Phuong was still shocked when recalling the flash flood 4 days ago.
She said that last year, Typhoon Yagi caused heavy rain, water inundated people's necks, damaging vehicles and electronic devices in the house. After the storm, some items can be repaired, others must be replaced.
A year later, the impact of storms No. 10 and No. 11 continued to put her family in misery. In the early morning of October 8, the water of the Cau River rose rapidly, flooding into her house and surrounding households.
At 5am, my mother and I could only abandon our belongings and run for our lives, all our belongings were submerged in floodwaters. TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, and motorbikes were all broken. The desks that parents contributed 1 million VND to buy for their children were also damaged after many days of soaking in water" - Ms. Phuong choked up.
Due to prolonged flooding, she has not been able to go to work for half a month now, just hoping for the water to recede every day to stabilize her life.
Sharing more with reporters, Ms. Phuong said that flooding occurs frequently in the area where she lives.
"Just one heavy rain, many households had to wade through the water. We hope that local authorities will soon have a plan to clear sewers and improve drainage systems so that people can work and live with peace of mind" - said the 37-year-old woman.

On October 12, Hanoi City Police mobilized nearly 400 officers, soldiers and many specialized vehicles to Trung Gia commune to support the government and people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, stabilize and rebuild their lives soon.
The authorities urgently clean up the environment, spray disinfectants at flooded schools; support people in moving and rearranging their assets; collect and classify waste, clear sewers and clean up mud on the roads...
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen - Vice Chairman of Trung Gia Commune People's Committee, in order to promptly support people after storms and floods, the commune government has directed forces to coordinate with Hanoi City Police to deploy working groups directly to 15 villages and 2 schools, urgently implementing support plans, contributing to minimizing property damage to the people.
