At the conference, Mr. Tong Van Bang, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, announced the Decision of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour on the appointment of the Rector of the Trade Union University for the term 2026-2031 for Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Manh Hung (Rector of the Trade Union University for the term 2020-2025); announced the Decision of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour on the appointment of the Vice Rector of the Trade Union University for the term 2026-2031, for Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hiep Thuong.
At the conference, on behalf of the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour congratulated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Manh Hung on being trusted and appointed to hold the position of Rector of Trade Union University; congratulated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hiep Thuong on being trusted and appointed to hold the position of Vice Rector of Trade Union University.
According to VGCL President Nguyen Anh Tuan, over the past 80 years, Trade Union University has been associated with the maturity of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union organization - this is a very proud journey.
So proud, but also a burden, also pressure, also a challenge... that the school's teaching staff must look at to make more efforts, to try harder, to turn the proud and glorious tradition of the University of Labor and Social Affairs into a source of strength to innovate education, training, scientific research, digital transformation, building facilities and a better learning environment" - Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan said.
VGCL President Nguyen Anh Tuan also raised issues for Principal Le Manh Hung and Vice Principal Nguyen Hiep Thuong to pay attention to and implement in the coming time together with the school's teaching staff.
In which, the Chairman of the VGCL stated that the Politburo has issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development. The Resolution sets out very specific requirements for higher education and especially amending the Law on Higher Education from the perspective that the School Council model is no longer maintained and transferred to Party committees and organizations to comprehensively lead... Therefore, the Principal and teachers in the Board of Directors, in the Standing Committee of the Party Committee should soon review and consolidate all regulations and rules on the organizational structure and operation of the school to suit new requirements...
The President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour said that in his concluding speech at the National Conference summarizing 1 year and 6 months of implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation held on the afternoon of July 1, General Secretary and President To Lam made very specific requests related to the opening of the new school year - school year 2026 - 2027.
In which, General Secretary and President To Lam expected that in key and key scientific fields that Resolution No. 57 has set out, the education system must base on that to prepare quality human resources to meet the development requirements of the country based on the foundation of science and technology, digital transformation and innovation in the coming time.
Implementing the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam, the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that in the enrollment season of the 2026 - 2027 school year, Trade Union University will not only recruit enough students into traditional majors with strengths such as management, administration, human resources, law... but also recruit enough quality students into new training majors related to technology, technology, and science on occupational safety and health...
These are fields that not only contribute to the development of the country based on science and technology, innovation, but are also associated with the extremely sacred and important mission of the University of Trade Unions. That is training and fostering trade union officials, officials participating in scientific research and consulting in fields of workers and trade unions, contributing professional knowledge and practical experience to the leadership, direction and administration of the Standing Committee of the VGCL.
Chairman Nguyen Anh Tuan also hoped that the School Board of Directors and the teaching staff of the school would continue to promote the spirit of democracy, solidarity and unity, and manage the school's work in a democratic and transparent manner so that learners and teachers would increasingly trust and come to Trade Union University as an address to attract talents, an address to train high-quality human resources for the country as well as for the Trade Union organization in the coming time.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Manh Hung - Rector of the University of Labor and Social Affairs expressed: "Being trusted by the Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to be awarded the Decision to appoint the Rector and Vice Rector of the University of Labor and Social Affairs is a great honor for me and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hiep Thuong; at the same time, it is also a very heavy responsibility before the organization, before the school collective and before generations of learners".
Rector Le Manh Hung said that the country is entering a new stage of development under the guidance of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation. This is both a requirement and an opportunity for Trade Union University to comprehensively innovate, improve quality and affirm its position in the Vietnamese higher education system.
The School collective is committed to focusing on synchronously implementing strategic pillars: Improving training quality; developing science, technology, innovation and knowledge transfer; completing the quality assurance and accreditation system; building a streamlined, efficient, effective and efficient organizational structure; developing a high-quality staff and lecturers; promoting digital transformation and modern university governance; expanding international cooperation; strengthening investment in technical infrastructure and digital infrastructure; building a humane, democratic, disciplined, safe and happy university environment.
