On September 9, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong, on behalf of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, signed an official dispatch to provincial and municipal labor federations; central and equivalent industry unions, and general corporation unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on equipping press and trade union publications to serve the work of propagating and mobilizing union members and workers.
Clearly recognizing the role, position, and importance of press and publishing for the Party's ideological work in general and the propaganda and mobilization of union members and workers of the Trade Union organization in particular, on January 6, 2014, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued Directive No. 01/CT-TLD on "Improving the quality and efficiency of press and publishing activities of trade union organizations in the new situation".
Then, on December 29, 2023, implementing the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor continued to issue Program No. 01/Ctr-BCH on "Promoting the communication work of the Vietnam Trade Union for the period 2023 - 2028", affirming the importance of the press and trade union publications in the communication work of the trade union organization.
Implementing the above policies, press agencies and trade union publications have made many innovations in content and form, increased the capacity of propaganda about workers and trade unions, increased solutions to bring information to a large number of union members, workers and readers nationwide, contributing to propaganda, mobilization of union members and workers and communication about the trade union organization.
To continue to improve the effectiveness of information and propaganda work in the new situation, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested press and publishing agencies of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and trade unions at all levels to focus on implementing a number of tasks.
In particular, Lao Dong Newspaper and Lao Dong Publishing House continue to innovate content and form, increase propaganda content, and reflect on the workers' movement and trade union activities.
Proactively and actively sign communication cooperation agreements, issue them with provincial and municipal labor federations, central and equivalent industry unions, and corporation unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to propagate the activities of trade unions at all levels; reflect the thoughts, aspirations, and fight against violations of labor and trade union laws; propose and recommend solutions to care for and protect the rights of union members and workers; increase training in communication skills and professional skills for union officials at all levels.
Provincial and municipal labor federations, central and equivalent industry unions, and general corporation unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor actively and proactively provide information, coordinate with Lao Dong Newspaper and Lao Dong Publishing House to propagate the workers' movement and trade union activities in localities and sectors.
Review and equip Lao Dong print newspapers and publications of the Labor Publishing House to serve the work of propagating and mobilizing union members and workers, especially at grassroots trade unions.
In particular, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor requested press and publishing agencies of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and trade unions at all levels to focus on implementing and striving for each grassroots trade union to have at least 1 Lao Dong printed newspaper in the spirit of Directive No. 01/CT-TLD of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
