Towards the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union for the 2026-2031 term, teacher Chau Minh Tan (Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Can Tho College of Economics and Technology) has made heartfelt and practical contributions to complete this important document.
First of all, Mr. Tan expressed his agreement and high consensus with the Draft Report of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (XIII term) at the XIV Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, term 2026-2031. According to Mr. Tan, the Draft has been carefully prepared, assessed closely to reality and accurately reflects the positive changes of the workers, civil servants, and laborers movement in the past period.
Contributing more deeply to the achieved results, teacher Tan believes that the patriotic emulation movements in the past time have been concretized and spread widely, creating motivation for trade union officials, union members, and workers to boldly create and bring many practical benefits.
However, movements are still focusing on economic efficiency while sometimes neglecting social values. Therefore, teacher Tan proposed that in the 2026–2031 term, the Vietnam Trade Union should have a mechanism to pay attention to, consider and properly honor initiatives and experiences that bring benefits to the community.
Regarding the targets to strive for by the end of the term, the Chairman of the Grassroots Trade Union of Can Tho College of Economics and Technology emphasized the core role of the Collective Labor Agreement and dialogue at the workplace. Teacher Tan said: "Dialogue in the true sense is the key for employees and employers to understand, connect, and help the unit stabilize and complete tasks well.
From that reality, teacher Tan proposed adjusting the targets to be more breakthrough: At least 90% of enterprises and units with trade union organizations are covered by collective labor agreements and 100% must organize dialogues at the workplace. Improving these targets will create a solid legal basis to protect the legitimate rights and thoughts of workers, contributing to building harmonious and progressive labor relations in the new situation.
