Proactive from the grassroots, close to each worker
The whole province currently has nearly 150 grassroots trade unions (CDCS) with more than 34,000 union members. Most enterprises use machinery and equipment with a high risk of occupational accidents, especially in the fields of production, chemicals, construction, electricity, etc. Therefore, occupational safety and hygiene (OSH) is always identified by the union as a key task.
Mr. Tran Quoc Viet - Vice Chairman of Tra Vinh City Labor Federation - said that in response to the Labor Safety and Hygiene Action Month in 2025, the City Labor Union has stepped up propaganda, inspected working conditions, perfected the network of occupational safety and hygiene workers and recommended that businesses improve the working environment.
The grassroots trade unions that we manage all operate in areas with potential risks, so the work of monitoring and reminding the implementation of occupational safety and health is always maintained regularly, said Mr. Viet.

At My Phong Leather Shoes Company Limited - a large enterprise in the area, occupational safety and health work is carried out seriously. According to Ms. Tran Thi Thuy - Vice Chairman of the company's Trade Union, the production stages related to chemicals, presses and high-speed needles require very high safety requirements.
"The company always organizes periodic training and regular equipment maintenance, thanks to which there have been no serious work accidents for many years," Ms. Thuy shared.
Raising awareness, reducing risks, towards sustainable development
Ms. Tran Thi Kim Chung - President of Tra Vinh Provincial Federation of Labor - said that on the occasion of this year's Labor Union Safety and Order Action Month, the Provincial Federation of Labor also launched the emulation movement "Green - Clean - Beautiful", associated with the initiative of technical innovation, improving production efficiency and environmental protection.
However, in reality, occupational safety and health work at some enterprises is still limited. There are still places that have not strictly implemented legal regulations; the safety and hygiene network is still formal; workers lack knowledge or are subjective, do not fully use protective equipment, leading to unfortunate accidents.

Despite the difficulties, it is undeniable that the Trade Union organization has made positive contributions to raising awareness and building a culture of occupational safety and health in enterprises.
These activities are contributing to creating a safe working environment, protecting workers' health and improving labor productivity, developing businesses in a sustainable way, emphasized the President of the Tra Vinh Labor Federation.
