On the morning of July 21, the Vietnam Education Union (GDVN) organized a seminar "Good models, effective solutions to improve the quality of trade union activities at the grassroots level".
As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Education Union, the seminar is a forum for trade union officials to exchange and share lessons learned in organizing trade union activities at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the opening, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An - Chairman of the Vietnam Education Union - said that the seminar was organized with the desire to delve into good models and effective solutions in improving the quality of trade union activities at the grassroots level, instead of continuing to exchange general theoretical contents. Through the seminar, grassroots trade union officials shared initiatives, good practices and practical experiences, thereby spreading effective models throughout the industry.
Sharing at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Le Manh Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime University said that in the context of limited resources of the trade union, close coordination with the Youth Union has opened up an effective direction, contributing to improving the quality of activities for union members and workers at the school.
Currently, the Trade Union of Vietnam Maritime University only has two full-time officials, while the number of union members is up to 1,500 people. We determine that we must take advantage of the strength to coordinate with the Youth Union to organize large-scale activities. The development of a common plan helps many cultural, artistic, and sports programs to be implemented synchronously, attracting the participation of both lecturers and students. Not only creating a connection between teachers and students, this model also promotes resource efficiency, bringing many new ideas and improving the spiritual life of union members," Mr. Cuong said.
Sharing about the experience of organizing trade union activities, Mr. Nguyen Le Manh Cuong said that the companionship between the Trade Union and the Youth Union is an important factor to help movements become more practical and spread. Creative ideas from youth union members combined with the experience of trade union officials help programs always innovate, avoiding repetition.
Specifically, to avoid waste and reduce training pressure for teachers, sports festivals and art performances are reduced in frequency to 5 years/2 times; interspersed with that are forms of personal recording of teachers to improve spiritual life.
At the seminar, Mr. Dang Dai Hung - Chairman of the Trade Union of Lac Hong University said that the trade union needs to focus on activities to care for life, provide professional support, protect legitimate rights and interests and build a positive working environment, workers will be more aware of the role of the trade union organization and actively participate in trade union activities.
In addition, the Trade Union of Lac Hong University determines that grasping the needs and thoughts of teachers and workers is an important factor to enhance the attractiveness of the trade union organization.
The unit regularly surveys the satisfaction level of union members, taking the survey results as a basis for building a suitable activity program. At the same time, promote the role of the team of trade union heads at departments and divisions in propaganda, connecting union members and promptly receiving recommendations from grassroots levels. This is a solution to help the information of the trade union organization spread quickly, accurately and closer to workers," said Mr. Dang Dai Hung.
