Helping workers have more housing opportunities
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Phuong, Chairwoman of the Trade Union of fly Salanganes Nest Company Limited (Khanh Hoa), could not hide her joy when knowing that the income ceiling for workers eligible to buy or rent social housing (NOXH) has been increased.
In particular, workers without labor contracts can also access social housing if their income is confirmed by the Commune and Ward Police. According to Ms. Phuong, the new regulations are closer to reality than current working conditions and income of workers.
Ms. Huynh Nam Khanh (45 years old, residing in Nha Trang ward) recalled that during the dialogue between workers, union members, and laborers with the Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, she once raised concerns: Many older female workers want to buy social housing but are stuck with the ceiling of 15 million VND/month.
According to the new regulations, low-income urban people, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers who are not married or single and have an average income of no more than 20 million VND/month will be eligible to buy social housing.
For married people, the total income of the couple does not exceed 40 million VND/month; if raising a child under 18 years old, the maximum income is increased to 30 million VND/month.
"The new regulations help many older, single workers have more opportunities to settle down and stabilize their lives" - Ms. Khanh shared.
There will be more than 2,000 social housing units completed in 2025
According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Construction, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole province has started construction and implemented 4 social housing projects (NOXH) with a total scale of 7,518 apartments.
Of which, 2 projects are being implemented, including social housing in Cam Nghia ward with 3,485 units, by August 2025, 608 units had been completed. The investor is focusing resources, striving to complete 1,857 units by the end of 2025 and complete the remainder in 2026.
The MK Central City social housing project (belonging to Phu Ha New Urban Area, 324 apartments) has completed the rough construction, expected to be fully handed over in 2025.
In addition, 2 new projects have started construction with 3,709 units including: Thanh Hai Resettlement Area (1,518 units), starting construction in August 2025.
Social housing in Binh Son - Ninh Chu New Urban Area (2,291 units), starting construction in September 2025. It is expected that by the end of 2025, Khanh Hoa will complete 2,181 social housing units, reaching 76.63% of the target assigned by the Prime Minister.
Currently, the province has 6 other projects with a total of 5,389 social housing units that have been allocated and approved for investment. Of which, 4 projects have been granted policies and assigned investors, including: OXH02 social housing area (1,215 apartments) - expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2027.
Vinh Hai Social Housing Area (822 apartments) - completed in the third quarter of 2027. HHO-05 social housing area (528 apartments) - completed in the fourth quarter of 2027. CT-04 social housing area, in An Binh Tan Urban Area (840 apartments) - completed in the fourth quarter of 2027.
This supply is expected to meet the social housing needs of workers in the coming period.
