With a 5-day April 30 and 1.5 holiday, Mr. Le Van Huy (from Ninh Binh) decided to stay in the capital to drive a technology motorbike taxi with the hope of earning more income.
"I have heard from some technology drivers that holiday income will be higher than normal days, possibly reaching 1 million VND/day. I also need money to cover many expenses, so I decided to stay and drive through the holidays" - Mr. Huy said.
However, summarizing the 5 working days during the holidays of April 30 and May 1, Mr. Huy said that the total income he earned was less than 2.5 million VND (average less than 500,000 VND/day), including discounts, food and gas.
"This income is not as expected, just a little more than normal days, while I still have to drive for about 12 hours/day" - Mr. Huy said.
" Breaking his dream" of earning millions of dong each day during the holidays of April 30 and May 1, Mr. Huy shared that he no longer has a "hood" to stay in the capital to "plow up the plow" but will spend time visiting his family during the upcoming holidays.
Many other drivers also shared that their income from driving a motorbike taxi during the recent holidays was not as high as expected.

Having been driving a technology motorbike taxi for more than 3 years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha (from Phu Tho) - a driver at a technology motorbike taxi company - said that making a living in this profession is getting easier and easier.
Although her hometown is less than 100 km from Hanoi, on this holiday, Ms. Ha had to put aside the joy of family reunion, driving a few more buses, hoping for an additional income of 2-3 times compared to normal days. However, the actual figures were not as expected.
Ms. Ha said that only on April 29, the number of people booking to move to bus stations was large, so their income was a bit higher.
For the remaining days (from April 30 to April 4), the number of bus trips she received was not much, ranging from 15 to 20 trips/day, with an income of 500,000 - 600,000 VND, including expenses.
"During the holidays, the company does not have a bonus policy for each ticket or express price, so income does not have many changes" - Ms. Ha said and added that the most convenient thing during the holiday is the airy roads, so each ticket is shortened for travel time.
Although her income is not much higher than usual, Ms. Ha still has to accept running through the holidays because this is the family's only livelihood.
"I am the pillar of the family, my husband is in poor health and my two children are of school age, so I try to stay in the capital to earn more money or something" - Ms. Ha confided.
According to a survey by reporters, most technology motorbike taxi companies have not had specific policies on salaries and bonuses for drivers during the recent holidays.
