Storm No. 3 (Yagi) caused severe damage to workers of 41 units in Quang Ninh province, the units had to stop production from the 2nd shift on September 7, 2024.
Many factories and conveyor belts had their roofs blown off, trees fell, and coal drifted in warehouses due to their roofs being blown off or tarpaulin covers being blown off...
The drainage system and transportation routes were damaged, affecting the work of picking up and dropping off workers... The power system was broken, affecting the water supply for daily life and production of units, making it difficult to pump water; the telecommunications network was affected, making communication difficult.
Collective housing and apartment buildings serving workers had their glass walls blown off, corrugated iron roofs blown off, heavy rains caused flooding and damaged equipment. Many workers’ families suffered property damage, workers were killed, missing, injured, and some relatives died…
Working groups of the Standing Committee of TKV Trade Union together with the trade unions of the units directly visited the families of the affected workers, directed the trade unions of the units to promptly encourage the workers, pay attention and provide the best support and policies for the workers who had to take leave while waiting to overcome the consequences of the storm; coordinated with specialized agencies to quickly stabilize the lives of the workers, and deploy measures to restore production.
Faced with the loss and damage to property, TKV Trade Union encouraged, expressed condolences, visited the families of the deceased, quickly overcame difficulties, stabilized their spirits, and quickly stabilized their lives.
In the immediate future, TKV Trade Union will pay 5 million VND/case to visit and encourage injured workers; support families whose houses were damaged with 2 million VND/family; and at the same time, request TKV Trade Union's specialized committees and units to promptly compile the number of families affected by the storm to continue to have timely measures to support and help workers.
The families visited, shared and encouraged by the delegation expressed their emotion at the concern of TKV Trade Union and other units for the losses and damages caused by storm No. 3.
