After a few days off due to storm Yagi, on the morning of September 10, students of Hon Gai High School, Ha Long City returned to school.
Last night, parents received information from teachers about the school reopening. According to information from the school, the school has been cleaned up and a generator has been installed to welcome students back on the morning of September 10.
In recent days, teachers, with the support of authorities at all levels and functional forces such as police, army, etc., have been cleaning up and gradually overcoming the consequences of storm Yagi in schools across Quang Ninh province.
With the efforts of the entire political system to ensure that students do not have to interrupt their studies for a long time and return to school safely, this morning, a number of schools in Quang Ninh province welcomed students back.
However, most schools still have no electricity and are equipped with generators to provide light for teaching and learning.
Currently, the entire Quang Ninh province continues to urgently mobilize forces to quickly overcome the consequences to welcome students back to school soon.
During the super typhoon Yagi, medical and educational facilities, headquarters of agencies and units in Quang Ninh province suffered great damage to their facilities. In particular, schools had their roofs blown off, walls collapsed, water flooded, trees fell, glass was broken... In many schools, facilities such as desks, chairs, air conditioners, computers, printers... serving teaching and learning as well as the electrical system were completely damaged.
Immediately after the storm, school staff, teachers and students, with the support of military and police forces, immediately began to work on repairs. However, due to the extensive damage, repairs and cleanup could not be completed immediately, so schools still allowed students to temporarily stop attending classes to repair the damage.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province, based on the actual weather situation and the impact after the storm in the locality, with the highest spirit of effort, educational activities will return to normal to ensure the time frame for the 2024-2025 school year of preschool education, general education and continuing education in the province.
The Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province requires educational institutions and heads of educational institutions to proactively plan learning activities for students; at the same time, only organize educational activities at schools when safety conditions are guaranteed, and have plans to make up for missed classes for students if they have to miss school.
Visiting and encouraging teachers and students and inspecting the recovery work of storm Yagi at some schools in Ha Long City on September 8, Ms. Trinh Thi Minh Thanh - Standing Deputy Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee - requested that during the repair and cleanup process, special attention must be paid to ensuring the safety of teachers and students; especially for some construction items and trees that are still potentially unsafe. In addition, Ha Long City and military units arranged support forces to help schools complete the repair and cleanup work in the fastest time.
