Diversifying activities, strongly focusing on grassroots levels
To celebrate the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st, the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation will organize activities to both affirm the responsibility of the working class and the role of the Trade Union organization, and promote the concern of the whole society for union members, workers, and businesses.
This year's Workers' Month theme is "Vinh Long Workers: Innovation, improving labor productivity", clearly showing the direction of promoting the pioneering role of workers in the context of digital transformation, green transformation and integration. The province strives to have at least 70% of businesses with 100 or more employees organize response activities; about 10% of union members and workers participate in proposing initiatives, of which at least 30% of initiatives are applied in practice.
Many key programs have been implemented such as "May Dialogue", the forum "Trade Union members contribute ideas to build Vietnam Trade Unions in the new era", creating space for workers to express their thoughts, aspirations, and contribute opinions to build the Trade Union organization. The Provincial Labor Federation advises on organizing meetings and dialogues between provincial leaders and trade union members and workers to promptly remove difficulties and improve policies.
In addition, the programs "Thank you workers", "Trade Union meals", "Coming to workers' boarding houses" not only provide material support but also contribute to improving living conditions, enhancing spiritual life, and increasing the connection between businesses and workers.
Attaching care to development, spreading the value of workers
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - said that the organization of Workers' Month is not only limited to movement activities but also has profound socio-political significance, contributing to affirming the role of the working class in the new development stage.
According to Mr. Linh, this year's activities are implemented in the direction of innovation, close to reality, strengthening the application of technology, digital transformation, and application of artificial intelligence in building propaganda products, improving communication effectiveness, and paying attention to listening to workers' voices. Through dialogue programs and forums, trade unions will summarize opinions and recommendations to propose policy improvements and better protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members.
The important point is to link care and development. Not only providing immediate support, the trade union also creates conditions for workers to improve their skills, promote initiatives, and contribute to the development of businesses and localities. This is also a way to build a modern and strong working class" - Mr. Linh emphasized.
Also according to the leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation, the development of union members, establishment of grassroots trade unions, and fostering outstanding union members to introduce to the Party are identified as key tasks through the "May Union Member Class" admission program and the "May Party Member Class" admission program. Thereby, gradually building a strong Trade Union organization, enhancing the representative role in the new context.
Provincial-level key activities such as the launching ceremony of Workers' Month, the program of dialogue with provincial leaders, meetings with party members who are workers, the program "Coming to workers' boarding houses", the short video - clip writing contest on social networking platforms... are expected to create a strong spreading effect, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate.
Workers' Month 2026 is implemented from mid-April, peaking in May and ending in early June. With proactive, flexible, and strongly grassroots-oriented approaches, Vinh Long provincial trade union levels expect to create clear changes in the work of caring for and protecting workers, continuing to build harmonious labor, and at the same time arousing the spirit of creative labor emulation, contributing to the development of businesses and local socio-economy.
