Essential needs from practice
Mr. Ngo Trong Hieu - a worker at An Phat Nong Trading Co., Ltd. (Dong Thanh Ward, Vinh Long Province) - said that as a direct production worker, he realizes that having a Trade Union organization helps protect practical rights.
According to Mr. Hieu, in reality, many businesses have experienced salary and bonus debts, causing difficulties for workers, affecting their lives, psychological instability, affecting labor productivity and long-term commitment.
In these cases, the Trade Union organization has stood out to coordinate with functional agencies, protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers, and force businesses to fully pay salaries and bonuses according to agreements," Mr. Hieu added.

Sharing the same view, Ms. Le Cam Tu - a worker at Hung Phat Garment Co., Ltd. (Phuoc Hau ward, Vinh Long province) - said that from the reality of life, she recognizes the practical role of the Trade Union in caring for the welfare of workers.
According to Ms. Tu, programs such as gift support for holidays and Tet, or loan policies from CEP Microfinance Organization have helped many workers overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, and reduce financial pressure. "In particular, the housing support program from 40 to 60 million VND helps workers have more conditions to settle down, thereby being assured to work and stick with the business for a long time," Ms. Tu added.
From those practical benefits, Ms. Tu said that she boldly proposed to the enterprise to establish a grassroots Trade Union in February, in order to create a support for workers.
Expanding organization, improving operational efficiency
Reality shows that expanding and developing grassroots trade unions not only increases the number of union members but also contributes to improving the effectiveness of caring for and protecting workers, especially in the context of a volatile labor market.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Linh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation - said that the development of grassroots trade unions is always concerned and promoted.
According to Mr. Linh, by the end of 2025, Vinh Long Provincial Labor Federation will directly manage 607 grassroots trade unions with 170,342 union members out of a total of 181,469 workers, showing the stable development of the Trade Union organization.

To date, the whole province has 627 grassroots trade unions and professional unions with 174,352 union members out of a total of 184,905 workers, further affirming the representative role of the Trade Union organization," Mr. Linh added.
According to Mr. Linh, the Provincial Labor Federation is also implementing a Project to establish Commune and Ward Trade Unions to expand the scope of care and protection for workers in the informal sector.
Through surveys, there are currently 13 localities that are eligible to establish Commune and Ward Trade Unions; in which, the decision to establish Tra Vinh Ward Trade Union and Nguyet Hoa Ward Trade Union has just been announced.
The establishment of commune and ward trade unions basically meets the conditions of having 1,500 union members and 10 or more grassroots trade unions, contributing to improving the effectiveness of trade union activities," Mr. Linh added.
