Recruitment demand increases sharply
In the first months of 2026, the production and business picture in Da Nang recorded many positive signs. A series of businesses in the fields of seafood processing, garment, electronics, tourism... continuously signed new orders, forcing them to expand production scale and recruit more workers.
At Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading Joint Stock Company, right from the beginning of the year, the enterprise had abundant export orders. Mr. Truong Van Quang - Chairman of the company's Trade Union said that the unit is needing to recruit about 700 more workers to meet the production plan.
Not only increasing the number of recruits, businesses also have to supplement many support policies such as gasoline money, housing, support for raising young children... to attract and retain workers.
Not only Thuan Phuoc, many businesses in Da Nang are also in a similar situation. According to statistics from the Da Nang Employment Service Center, businesses currently need about 9,000 workers, but the number recruited is only more than 300 people. The large gap between demand and actual recruitment shows that the labor market is "heating up", but supply has not kept up.
Mr. Huynh Cong Hai - Deputy Director of Da Nang Employment Service Center commented: "The labor market in 2026 is very vibrant, with high recruitment demand, especially for unskilled workers. However, the supply in many positions has not met the requirements of businesses.
Supply and demand still haven't met
The figures just mentioned continue to show a familiar paradox of the Da Nang labor market in recent years. That is, businesses need people, but workers are not ready or not suitable. The problem is not in the number of jobs, but in the "dismatch" between supply and demand.
And this is not a private matter of Da Nang, but a common situation of many central provinces and cities.
For example, Hue, a locality with more than 650,000 people in the labor force and about 10,000 people entering the market each year. This figure shows that the supply is not small. However, according to feedback from businesses, they still face many difficulties in recruitment due to a shortage of labor to meet production requirements.
From a business perspective, current demand mainly focuses on stable labor, accepting to work in an industrial environment, or having basic skills to be able to train further. Meanwhile, a part of workers tend to look for lighter jobs, higher incomes, or flexibility in time.
A business in the industrial park said it is ready to recruit unskilled workers and organize retraining from the beginning. However, recruiting enough personnel still faces many difficulties, showing that the problem is not only in skills but also in the commitment and expectations of workers.
On a broader scale, Vietnam currently has about 1.06 million people of working age who are unemployed. This figure raises a big question: why, while thousands of jobs are waiting, are there still many people who have not found a suitable job?
Experts believe that the core cause lies in the ineffective labor market connection system. The gap between training and the actual needs of businesses is still large. Career guidance for high school students is not really close to market needs. Meanwhile, job information reaching workers is not complete and timely.
To solve this problem, a synchronous solution system is needed. First of all, improve the quality of vocational training, closerly link schools and businesses to train according to "orders". In addition, it is necessary to promote career orientation from an early stage, helping workers have a suitable career choice from the beginning.
More importantly, the labor market needs to be "connected" through effective and transparent job information platforms, helping workers easily access opportunities, while helping businesses find the right people.
The recovery of orders is opening up thousands of job opportunities in Da Nang and the Central region. However, for these opportunities not to stop on paper, but to truly reach workers, the problem of narrowing the supply-demand gap needs to be solved fundamentally and sustainably.
