Children's playground is a ball house in the supermarket
Walking around the workers of workers near industrial parks, almost nowhere has a playground for children. In Ngoc Than, Ngoc My (Quoc Oai District, Hanoi City), around 16h, the children dragged each other to the road to play football. The match is often interrupted because there are cars passing. There were some children inviting each other to climb the gate in the yard next to the worshiping place of the commune to beat badminton. In the hot days in early summer, many young people went to the pond to swim. Many houses buy life jackets for children, but there are also children using plastic cans as buoys ... where there is no place to play, the children find ways to release energy. In addition to soccer, running, swimming, after 21h, the children also invited each other to go around the neighborhood - little Tuan, who were in grade 5 with a father who drove a farmer, his mother worked as a worker.
As one of the families in Ngoc Than, Quach Ngoc Nham, hometown of Hoa Binh, working in Thach That Industrial Park, every summer, she has a headache about playing for her children. Because of the conditions, her husband was in Hoa Binh with her 7 -year -old daughter, she was in Hanoi with her mother -in -law and a 9 -month -old son. Occasionally, the husband let his daughter go down to play with his mother, he must hang around in a narrow inn, about 12m2, wall covered, no windows. Once, I went down to me to go to the shadow house in the town of Quoc Oai, but only 1-2 times I was bored. Gradually, the only pleasure when he came to Hanoi to play with his mother was ... running to the street to play. Each time like that, Ms. Nham told me to be careful because of the many cars and just let the children go out after 21h. "Well, I have to let my children move and run, so I only told me:" Be careful, avoid vehicles, "Ms. Nham shared.
Ms. Truong Thi Hanh, a worker at Thang Long Industrial Park, a boarding house in Vong La (Dong Anh), said: The boarding house is too cramped, there is no place for children to play, so she and her husband want to take their children to a place with a large space for them to run and move their bodies.
Workers have a headache when summer comes
Currently, as the summer vacation approaches, the worry about playgrounds for workers' children is getting "hotter". In industrial parks with a large number of workers in Da Nang City, the lack of safe and useful play space for young children is making many parents worried.
In residential areas near industrial parks in Da Nang City such as Hoa Cam Industrial Park, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu Industrial Park (Da Nang) ... every year, millions of people from other provinces come to temporarily reside. Therefore, the familiar image every summer is children wandering around in cramped boarding houses, or wandering on the streets, posing many potential dangers.
Ms. Le Thi Be, a worker at Hoa Cam Industrial Park, shared: "When the summer vacation comes, I am very worried about my young child. There are no playgrounds, parks or cultural houses here. They can only watch TV, use their phones or go to the space in front of their house to play. I hope to have a safe and healthy playground so that the children can play, develop physically and mentally.
Sharing the same feelings, Ms. Nguyen Thi My, also a worker at Hoa Cam Industrial Park, said: "My wife and I work all day, and during the summer, we have no one to look after our children at home. The house is cramped and stuffy, and the children living around it are also miserable. I want to take my children out but I don't know where to take them."
The lack of playground not only makes children bored and lack entertainment activities but also affects their comprehensive development. The lack of safe play space also poses many risks of accidents and risks for young children, causing parents to always be worried and insecure.
It is necessary to have spaces for children
Talking to us, Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Chairman of the Trade Union of Meiko Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that currently, the boarding houses of workers have almost no playgrounds for children.
“Here I want to say that the playground for the children of the whole local people. Not only the summer break, the children need to go to the playground, but everyday, going to school children also need room to run, play or play games. Safe play for children has been one of the worries and desires of workers in the boarding workers. Often, in the summer, many families choose to send their children to their hometowns to visit their grandparents and let children have a place to play, not in the confined and secret scenery, ”Mr. Hai emphasized.
According to the Project "Supporting workers in industrial parks and export processing zones in child care and education in the 2025 - 2028 period" signed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, one of the specific goals of the Project by 2028 is to strive for each provincial and municipal Labor Federation to support at least one group of young people working in the area with industrial parks and export processing zones in terms of equipment, supplies, toys and conditions to ensure the quality of care and education for workers' children.
The project also sets out specific tasks and solutions. In particular, promoting investment in the construction of workers' housing and trade union institutions in industrial parks and export processing zones, considering this a fundamental solution to help workers' families " settle down and make a living".
Investing in the construction of trade union institutions in industrial parks and export processing zones needs to be associated with the construction of kindergartens, health stations, and entertainment areas for children of industrial park and export processing zones workers. Thereby, helping to realize one of the rights of children is to live with their parents, receive spiritual and emotional care on the basis of strengthening the bond between parents and children; creating conditions for children to develop and perfect both physically and mentally.
Joining hands to build a home for workers
Faced with difficulties in housing and a shortage of cultural and entertainment institutions for workers, Da Nang City is actively implementing solutions to increase social housing funds. Special attention is paid to the construction of social housing areas with integrated entertainment areas and cultural institutions for workers and their children.
According to Mr. Nguyen Ha Nam, Director of the Department of Construction of Da Nang City, this locality and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor will build 730 new apartments with cultural institutions, playgrounds, and community houses in the Hoa Cam area (Cam Le District). This is an effort to bring workers a complete home, not only meeting their housing needs but also ensuring conditions for entertainment, recreation and development for their children. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is also studying the possibility of investing in 500 more apartments in this area, thereby affirming the practical concern and support for workers' lives.
In addition, Da Nang is also promoting direct investment in the Vu Mong Nguyen apartment project phase 2 with 191 apartments, while upgrading 184 apartments in Hoa Cam. The city is urging to speed up the completion of 2,736 apartments in the Bau Tram project, and restart the Dai Dia Bao and An Trung 2 apartment projects with 870 apartments. The project at Hoa Hiep 4 resettlement area with 1,564 apartments is expected to start construction in October and two new apartment buildings in Cam Le with 1,955 apartments expected to start construction at the end of 2025 or early 2026.
Not only focusing on existing projects, Da Nang also expands land funds and calls for investment in new projects. Location No. 10 Trinh Cong Son with 649 apartments approved for investment and 4 other land plots with the potential to develop about 3,000 apartments are in the process of completing procedures, expected to start construction in 2026.
Another notable solution is to convert the function of a student dormitory in Hoa Khanh into 728 apartments for workers to rent. These efforts demonstrate the city's determination to solve the housing problem and create a better living environment for workers, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.
Proposal to expand the model of free summer camps for workers' children
Mr. Luu Kim Hong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nidec Vietnam Company (High-Tech Park, Ho Chi Minh City) - said that the lack of playground for workers' children can be said to be all year round, not just in the summer. This shortage includes a lack of human resources, material resources, and talent from investment from the State and enterprises. Programs serving children and adolescents in films, books, songs, and games are still small compared to the needs of children.
Mr. Hong said that it is necessary to increase the use of cultural houses in districts, towns or Labor Culture Houses under the trade union system to serve as a playground for children of workers. These culturalists should connect with residential areas to design programs for entertainment, both playing and studying, in studying and playing, in playing and leaning towards physical activities, sports, arts, outdoor activities, combined with teaching soft skills and life skills to attract children to activities and help them stay away from phones, computers or electronic devices early.
At the same time, the government and trade unions need to mobilize landlords with many rooms and many children of workers to participate with state agencies and trade unions to create a playground for children of workers right in residential areas and boarding houses. Because when organized right at boarding houses, children of workers there can participate in playing and living activities, without having to take their children to playgrounds or cultural houses.
" Localities also need to organize more playgrounds similar to the Thanh Da Summer Camp model but exempt or reduce costs for workers' children so that they can participate in more fun and entertainment activities during the summer," said Mr. Hong.
Agreeing with the above view, Ms. Tran Thi Hong Van - Chairwoman of the Trade Union of Nissei Electric Vietnam Company - said that the government and businesses should organize some types of games for employees' children such as playing in water (such as spraying games) to help cool down in hot weather, increase mobility, group interaction; multi-purpose outdoor recreation such as slides, swings, reeling, mountain climbing, balance ropes, to help them develop physical strength and mobility.
Along with that, there are also creative playgrounds such as assembling models to help children stimulate their rich5, creative imagination and get into roles; taking children to visit natural gardens or playgrounds associated with nature to let them come into contact with trees, soil, sand, water to help develop senses, observation skills and love nature...
