Attending and speaking at the gift-giving ceremony, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong shared the loss and damage with union members and workers in Hai Phong City - one of the localities that suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 3. Among them, 2 workers in Hai Phong died, hundreds of workers' houses were devastated and severely damaged.
The Standing Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that workers will soon overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives, and continue working and producing to help businesses overcome the consequences of the storm. Comrade Thai Thu Xuong also requested the Hai Phong City Labor Federation to continue to care for union members in difficult circumstances with specific, practical, and timely actions. In addition, research and coordinate with the Labor Federations of the Northern mountainous provinces to support workers and laborers who suffered heavy losses from floods.
Here, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded 454 million VND to support union members and employees of Hai Phong City to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3. The Hai Phong City Confederation of Labor also mobilized its staff and employees to participate in supporting people affected by storm No. 3.
According to the preliminary report of the Hai Phong City Labor Federation, by 5:00 p.m. on September 12, storm No. 3 had caused damage, killing 2 workers and injuring 96 workers; 284 businesses had lost facilities, machinery, equipment, and goods, estimated at thousands of billions of VND. 148 houses of workers and laborers in difficult circumstances were severely damaged. The Hai Phong City Labor Federation awarded subsidies to 2 cases of death due to the storm, house repair costs for union members who died due to house collapse, support for 54 businesses with severe damage, and 17 teams of workers and laborers participating in supporting the recovery of the storm's consequences. In the near future, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation will award house repair support funds to workers affected by storm No. 3, from 2-3 million VND/case...
