Attending and directing the conference was Ms. Thai Thu Xuong, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Attending the conference were chairmen, vice chairmen and union officials working in office work, emulation and rewards of 37 provincial and municipal labor federations, central industry unions and equivalent, trade unions of corporations under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and units under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Speaking at the conference, the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized that in the process of leading and directing the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and trade union activities, the Presidium and Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor always identified "Building a team of trade union officials with sufficient capacity and qualities, meeting requirements and tasks" as one of the key tasks, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of trade union activities.
To carry out that task, in recent years, the VGCL and trade unions at all levels have always paid attention to training, fostering and coaching to help trade union officials update new policies, regulations and statutes, thereby improving their qualifications, knowledge, skills and expertise to perform well the functions and tasks of the trade union organization.
According to the Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, office work and emulation and reward work have a particularly important position and role.
The Office is the information processing center, the focal point for coordinating the agency's activities, and acts as a bridge throughout the entire operation process of the agency.
With the nature of the job being advice and service, it requires office staff to not only assist but also be creative, proactive, have scientific working methods, be diligent, meticulous, careful, responsible for the job; fully and accurately grasp information and results of trade union levels to promptly advise the standing committee, the standing committee to lead and direct the movement of workers, civil servants, laborers and trade union activities.
Regarding emulation and commendation work, the 2022 Law on Emulation and Commendation and Decree No. 98/2023/ND-CP dated December 31, 2023 of the Government detailing the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Emulation and Commendation take effect from January 1, 2024, including many new points.
“Improving the quality of trade union work in general, and office work and emulation and reward work in particular, is an inevitable requirement of trade union activities in the current period, contributing to creating a foundation for effectively implementing the innovation of the content and methods of operation of the trade union organization to meet the requirements of union members and workers in the period of international integration” - Ms. Thai Thu Xuong said.
The training conference on office work and emulation and reward work took place over 2 days (September 19-20) with 6 topics, focusing on 3 major groups of issues: document and archive work, regulations on protecting state secrets; information synthesis, reporting and emulation and reward work.
These topics are selected based on the current practical situation of implementing new regulations as well as the difficulties and problems in the work of trade unions at all levels.
From the knowledge gained at this training conference, union officials will study and apply it to the daily work of their agencies and units to do a good job of advising the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial and City Federation of Labor, the Central Industry Union and equivalent, the General Corporation Union under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, etc.
