Healthcare for 1 million union members and workers
Meeting us at the free health check-up program for union members and workers organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation recently, Ms. Phan Thi Phuong, a kindergarten teacher, said that previously, she had to spend about 1.5 million VND per year on medical check-ups, which is quite a large amount compared to her income of 7 million VND/month. However, this time being supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union for in-depth free reproductive health check-ups, she is very reassured.
Similarly, Ms. Phan Thi My Hien - a worker at Phu Dinh Company - informed that she received a free reproductive health examination and early detection of abnormalities, and was advised by a doctor for a more in-depth examination.
Thanks to early detection of abnormalities, I quickly went for a specialized health check-up at a specialized hospital, so I was also reassured," Ms. Hien shared.
These are just two typical cases benefiting from the policy of caring for workers from the health care program for 1 million union members and workers implemented by the Labor Federation in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health.

This health care program is part of the Action Program of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to implement the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam on enhancing the role of the Trade Union in caring for and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and workers in the city in the new period.
The Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union organization deeply grasps the guiding viewpoint of General Secretary and President To Lam that taking workers as the center of all trade union activities, all policies, programs, and solutions of the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union must originate from practical needs, legitimate aspirations of workers and laborers towards the goal of comprehensively improving the material and spiritual life, working conditions and development opportunities of workers. The care shift strongly from short-term support to care for sustainable and long-term development, focusing on creating stable jobs, increasing income, and improving living conditions," Mr. Vo Khac Thai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - emphasized.
Building 200,000 houses for workers to rent and lease-purchase
Another important highlight in the action program of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to implement the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam is to coordinate to build housing for workers and laborers to rent and buy.
Over the past time, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation has signed with more than 10 businesses to implement housing construction for workers to rent and rent-purchase. The new point of these programs is that there is not only housing, but also a comprehensive ecosystem including kindergartens, schools for workers' children, medical examination and treatment facilities, commercial centers... to make the living space of workers more complete.

Mr. Kim Vinh Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. - said that currently the demand of workers to have a house to settle down and go to work is very large. But with current incomes, workers find it very difficult to buy a house.
We workers are very happy to see the construction of houses for workers to rent and rent-purchase becoming a reality," Mr. Cuong said.
Some key annual targets in the action program of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation to implement the direction of General Secretary and President To Lam:
- At least 15% of the total number of union members are cared for and directly supported each year.
- Organize care for resorts and health recovery for about 10,000 union members and workers/year.
