On the morning of June 29, Ho Chi Minh City opened a photo exhibition with the theme "Saigon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City: Epic song and aspiration in the Era of Rising" at Chi Lang Park (Saigon ward). The exhibition lasts until the end of July 11.
This is one of the key activities in the series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the City of Saigon - Gia Dinh honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026), contributing to reviewing historical traditions, honoring outstanding achievements of Ho Chi Minh City after half a century of development and arousing pride and aspiration to contribute of all strata of people.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized that the decision of the 6th National Assembly to name Ho Chi Minh City for Saigon - Gia Dinh is a special historical milestone, recognizing the great contributions of the Party Committee and people of the city in the cause of national liberation and reunification, and at the same time expressing the Party and State's belief and expectations for the leading city of the country.
After 50 years of being named after President Ho Chi Minh, Ho Chi Minh City has constantly promoted the tradition of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, overcoming many difficulties to maintain its role as an economic locomotive, a major center of science and technology, innovation and gradually building a civilized, modern, and compassionate city.
The exhibition also evokes the deep bond between President Ho Chi Minh and the land of Saigon - Gia Dinh. It was from Nha Rong Wharf that young man Nguyen Tat Thanh left to find a way to save the country, starting the journey of struggle for national independence.
Throughout his revolutionary life, he always had special affection for the South, expressed through the saying: "The South is always in my heart".
According to Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, the exhibition theme summarizes the development journey of the land that is always associated with the nation's destiny. "The heroic epic" is a symbol of patriotism, indomitable will and contributions of many generations of people in Saigon - Gia Dinh - Ho Chi Minh City; while "Aspiration in the Age of Rising" expresses the determination to continue tradition with the spirit of innovation and creativity, promoting the leading role to develop rapidly and sustainably with the whole country.
The images and documents on display not only recreate the journey of struggle, construction and development of Ho Chi Minh City through each historical period but also vividly reflect outstanding achievements in the fields of economy, culture, society, science - technology, defense, security and international integration.
Through the exhibition, Ho Chi Minh City wishes to spread pride in the glorious tradition of the city named after Uncle Ho, and at the same time arouse the responsibility and aspiration to contribute of each cadre, party member and people, especially the young generation, contributing to building Ho Chi Minh City to become increasingly civilized, modern, and meaningful, continuing to maintain its leading role in the country's development in the new era.
