The Social Insurance Law 2024 (effective from July 1, 2025) has added more about subjects participating in compulsory social insurance who are entitled to sick leave benefits compared to the provisions of the Social Insurance Law 2014, specifically:
- People working under indefinite-term labor contracts, fixed-term labor contracts with a term of 1 month or more, even if the employee and the employer agree under another name but have content showing that the employment is paid, salary and the management, operation and supervision of one party;
- People working under indefinite-term labor contracts, fixed-term labor contracts with a term of 1 month or more of non-term work, with a monthly salary equal to or higher than the lowest salary used as the basis for compulsory social insurance contributions;
- Business owners of business households registered to participate in business according to Government regulations;
- Part-time workers at the commune level, in villages and residential groups;
- Enterprise managers, controllers, state capital representatives, enterprise capital representatives as prescribed by law; members of the board of directors, general directors, directors, control board members or controllers and other management positions elected by cooperatives and cooperative unions as prescribed by the Law on Non-Wage Cooperatives.
