Grieving the loss of our compatriots
On the morning of September 12, before the opening of the Conference to summarize the Workers' Movement, Trade Union activities in the 2023-2024 school year and deploy directions and tasks for the 2024-2025 school year, the District 7 Labor Federation, Ho Chi Minh City launched the first round of support for people in the North affected by storms and floods.
Ms. Nguyen Thi To Nhu, a member of the Phu Thuan Kindergarten Union (District 7), shared: “In the past few days, the images of houses flooded up to the roof; many villages buried, families with people swept away... have greatly affected my feelings as well as the teachers, brothers and sisters in the school. We promised ourselves that we would contribute to join hands to support people affected by storms and floods to quickly overcome the consequences.”
Mr. Vo Khac Binh - Chairman of the District 7 Labor Federation - thoughtfully recalled: When Ho Chi Minh City was heavily affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, people from all over the country joined hands to support. At that time, the District 7 Labor Federation also received many goods and artifacts donated by people from the North. Green squash and pumpkin were wrapped in nylon, rice paper was carefully wrapped in two or three layers of paper, with the outside clearly marked "fragile goods, please be careful"... Those gifts full of affection contributed to helping union members and workers in District 7 overcome the difficulties at that time.
“Seeing the losses, damages and pain that our people in the North are suffering, cadres, union members and workers in District 7 are very sad and want to contribute assets and materials to join hands to support our people. Immediately after the call from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, agencies of Ho Chi Minh City as well as District 7, the District 7 Labor Federation launched the first round of support for our people in the North affected by the storm and flood and hoped that people would quickly overcome this difficulty. According to the record, at the summary meeting on September 12, union members, workers and trade unions donated nearly 30 million VND. We will continue to mobilize cadres, union members and workers to donate more,” said Mr. Binh.
Can't help it
Mr. Luu Kim Hong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nidec Vietnam Company - shared: When I was young, my mother often taught me that when siblings in the family are sick, they are taking on the risks of other family members. Therefore, we must love and share with them. In a broader sense, the people of the North are taking on the risks of natural disasters so that all of us can work in peace. Information on the number of deaths and material damage increases every day, every hour, helping us imagine the losses and pain that are happening and may continue in the future.
“We are brothers and sisters, so we will take concrete actions to support and join hands to help our compatriots overcome the damage. This is an order from the heart, something that cannot be avoided. Many workers in the company also met and discussed with the Union to propose donations. In yesterday's meeting, we informed the company's board of directors that the Union will mobilize all union members and employees in the company, depending on their ability, to contribute to support compatriots affected by storms and floods,” Mr. Hong shared.
Mr. Cu Phat Nghiep - Chairman of the Labor Union of PouYuen Vietnam Company - also said that through mass media, employees in the company have learned about the huge losses caused by storms and floods that people in the North are suffering.
Currently, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Binh Tan District Labor Federation have mobilized union members and employees to contribute to support people affected by storms and floods. We will discuss with the company's board of directors to mobilize employees to join hands to support people affected by storms and floods.
