From propaganda to forming safety habits
Recently, Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union (Da Nang City) in coordination with Nam Phuoc Commune Police organized the announcement of the model "Labor Safety Culture at the Workplace" at the Trade Union of Anh Sang 7 Garment Enterprise. More than 100 union members and workers directly participated in the program, both receiving information and practicing safety skills in the working environment.
At the launch, Ms. Lam Thi Vy - Chairwoman of Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union handed over the decision to establish the model to the Executive Committee of the grassroots trade union and core members. This is a model designed by Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union with specific and practical production contents, from building a safe working environment, ensuring labor hygiene, equipping protective equipment, to listing safe working procedures and developing incident handling plans.
Immediately after the announcement ceremony, workers were directly guided by commune police officers to identify unsafe risks, how to handle situations, use fire extinguishers and measures to prevent accidents in production. Contents that seem familiar but when "hand-held" become more practical, easy to remember and easy to apply.
Reality shows that in many businesses, especially the garment industry, labor safety regulations are not lacking, but compliance depends heavily on awareness.
Multiplying to make safety a common value
The "Labor Safety Culture at the Workplace" model at Anh Sang 7 Garment Enterprise is not only a model of Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union, but also the first model in the Da Nang Trade Union system to date.
According to Ms. Lam Thi Vy - Chairwoman of Nam Phuoc Commune Trade Union, the construction of the model stems from the reality of managing 20 grassroots trade unions with many different types. Each working environment has its own characteristics, but the common point is that the issue of labor safety has not been given due attention. "We want to make labor safety a common culture. First of all, protecting workers, but also protecting the resources of businesses" - Ms. Vy shared.
Ms. Vy's opinion shows an important shift of the grassroots trade union, from considering labor safety as a legal responsibility to considering it as a vital benefit for both workers and businesses. A safe working environment not only reduces accidents, but also helps stabilize production, improve productivity and create trust for workers to stick with for a long time. The coordination between the Trade Union and the Police force in implementing the model is also a new point. Not only propaganda, the participation of functional forces also improves professionalism, updates knowledge and increases deterrence against safety violations.
Ms. Lam Thi Vy informed: In the coming time, this model will be replicated at other grassroots trade unions in the area, associated with the implementation of the Project "Trade Unions promote building a culture of occupational safety in the workplace in the period 2025-2030". This is a necessary direction in the context of increasingly high requirements for occupational safety, while many businesses still have gaps in awareness and practice.
From a pilot model at the grassroots level, if implemented methodically and effectively replicated, "labor safety culture" can completely become a common standard. At that time, safety becomes a daily behavior, deeply ingrained in the mindset and ways of doing things of each worker and each business.
