As one of 780 delegates attending the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, Mr. Soi Ngoc Cuong - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Chairman of the Son La Provincial Labor Federation said that he is very honored to bring the thoughts, aspirations and beliefs of union members and workers of Son La province to the important forum of the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
According to the delegate, what union members and workers want most now is to have stable jobs, increasingly improved income, and improved material and spiritual life. Workers expect the Congress to continue to propose effective solutions to better care for wages, welfare, social housing, housing for workers and essential conditions serving life.
These practical care policies will help workers feel secure in their work and be attached to agencies, units and businesses for a long time.
Improve skills to adapt to new requirements
Besides issues of employment, income and living standards, union members and workers in Son La also wish the Trade Union organization to continue to affirm and strongly promote its representative role, protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers.
Delegate Soi Ngoc Cuong said that the Trade Union needs to continue to actively participate in dialogue, negotiation, and build harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations; contributing to creating a safe, civilized and sustainable working environment.
In the context of strong digital transformation, innovation and international integration, workers expect the Trade Union to have more solutions to support training and fostering professional skills, digital skills, and improve adaptability to new requirements of the labor market.
At the same time, the Trade Union organization needs to continue to innovate patriotic emulation movements in a practical and effective direction, creating motivation for union members and workers to promote initiatives, improve labor productivity and contribute more to the development of the locality and the country.
Taking union members and workers as the center
Referring to the 2026 - 2031 term, the Chairman of the Son La Provincial Labor Federation said that the Trade Union organization needs to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, taking union members and workers as the center, strongly focusing on grassroots levels, ensuring that all activities originate from the practical needs of workers.
First of all, the Trade Union must be truly closer to workers, listen more and act more drastically. Trade union officials need to regularly stick to the grassroots level, promptly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of union members; proactively dialogue, advise, support and solve issues related to employment, income, working conditions and the lives of workers.
Along with that, the delegate said that it is necessary to promote digital transformation in trade union activities, build digital platforms to connect union members, provide more convenient trade union services; improve the efficiency of union member management, receive feedback and recommendations, and implement rapid and transparent welfare programs.
For businesses, the Trade Union needs to continue to affirm its role as a reliable bridge between employees and employers; accompany businesses in building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations. When the legitimate rights of employees are guaranteed, businesses stabilize production and develop sustainably, both parties benefit.
The delegate also emphasized the requirement to continue to pay attention to building a contingent of trade union officials at all levels, especially grassroots trade union officials, who are truly dedicated, responsible, brave and have skills to meet task requirements in the new situation. This is a key factor determining the quality of the Trade Union organization's activities in the next term.
Expanding effective care models
From the practical activities of trade unions in the past time, representatives of Son La Trade Union said that many models of caring for union members and workers have brought practical efficiency and need to be further replicated.
First of all, the Union member welfare program through the signing of cooperation agreements with businesses supplying essential goods and services. This approach helps union members access quality products and services at preferential prices, while contributing to supporting the consumption of OCOP products, typical local products.
Programs such as "Tet Sum vay", "Workers' Month", "Trade Union Meal", supporting housing for union members in difficult circumstances, supporting union members affected by natural disasters, epidemics or particularly difficult circumstances continue to affirm their profound humanistic meaning and need to be implemented more and more effectively.
One of the directions that needs to be promoted is the application of digital technology in union member management and organization of welfare programs. Building a synchronous union member database will help the Trade Union accurately grasp the needs of each target group, thereby implementing policies to support the right people, the right needs, ensuring publicity, transparency and efficiency.
In addition, it is necessary to continue to pay attention to investing in cultural and sports facilities; organize many cultural, artistic, and sports activities to improve spiritual life and strengthen solidarity among union members and workers.
In the coming time, it is necessary to better mobilize the participation of all levels of government, businesses and the whole society in taking care of workers; and at the same time improve the quality of collective bargaining, to have more and more good policies on salaries, bonuses and welfare for workers.
Delegates believe that with the strong innovation and high determination of trade union levels, union members and workers will be increasingly better cared for, thereby increasing trust, attachment and companionship with the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
