Going to the mine because of... my big body

In 2005, after graduating from high school, Mr. Pham Dinh Duan left his hometown to Quang Ninh, starting to work as a coal miner at KT5 Workshop, Danh Vang Coal Company - TKV. His tall figure not only impressed his colleagues, but was also one of the reasons why he was attached to the mining profession.

Mr. Duan shared: "My family has many miners. Every time they returned to their hometown, they told us about their profession and the mines. Those stories gradually seeped into me when they were not good. Then one day, someone joked: "This guy is tall and does well in the mine", so I decided to follow this career. When I went for the recruitment exam, I was 1m75 tall and weighed 85kg.

Having been attached to the tunnel since the early days, until October 2011, Mr. Duan was appointed as the Head of the Lo, Head of the Lo, and then Head of the Production Team at the KT 14 Workshop.

Mining underground coal is a difficult, stressful and dangerous job, especially when production conditions are getting deeper, geology is complicated, and the climate is harsh. But overcoming all challenges, under the leadership of Mr. Duan, Production Team No. 1 - KT14 Workshop - is always one of the teams with outstanding achievements, excellently completing assigned tasks.

In the period of 2015-2023, the production team led by Mr. Duan achieved an average output of over 55,000 tons of raw coal per year. The average income of workers in the group ranges from 15 to 25 million VND/person/month. Notably, more than half of technical workers have an income exceeding 300 million VND/year. This is also one of the production teams that always maintain the leading position of the whole company.

Efforts for the collective, for the tradition of "Synergy in Discipline"

Mr. Pham Dinh Duan is not only an exemplary leader, but also a "tive" of positive initiatives with many valuable technical improvements. One of his outstanding initiatives is to improve the DSJ80/40x75 code reloader, with a profit of 231 million VND. He also contributed to the extension of exploitation ati le 8, Vang Danh Center area.

In addition to professional work, Mr. Duan also focuses on training new workers, helping students practice skills.

In 2023, Mr. Duan made a particularly outstanding achievement in participating in the rescue process of the furnace failure incident on April 15, at the 2nd Floor from the top of the TGVC -30/+40 market II-7-2 Canh Ga well, Exploitation Workshop 4 (KT4) of Vang Danh - Vinacomin Coal Joint Stock Company. With Mr. Duan's contribution, the rescue team rescued 2 workers from the stranded location.

Mr. Trinh Van An, Chairman of the company's Trade Union, said: "Over the past 10 years, Mr. Duan has always exceeded the assigned plan targets, from 5 to 10%, contributing significantly to the completion of the overall output of the unit and the entire company. With outstanding achievements, in 2015, he was honored to be admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam. His contributions to production and building a strong collective are worthy of being an example for union members to follow.

The awards that he has strived for after 20 years of working with Vanh Danh Coal Joint Stock Company are noble emulation titles such as: 10 consecutive years of achieving the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level, Outstanding Skilled Worker of the Group, "National Young Skilled Worker", glorious Miner, Emulation Fighter of TKV, Emulation Fighter of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Talent of the Quang Ninh Coal Youth Union, Honored Citizen of Uong Bi City.

The certificates of merit and titles that he has achieved are always carefully preserved by Mr. Duan as valuable souvenirs. For him, it is not only a source of pride after many efforts, but also a motivation to continuously strive, worthy of the trust of the unit, colleagues and the tradition of "discipline and unity" of miners. Currently, Mr. Duan is being honored by the Company and has been nominated for the title of Labor Hero.
