Dak Lak lacks public vehicles to arrange for newly established communes and wards

Dak Lak - The province is lacking public transport to arrange for newly established communes and wards, starting to operate from July 1, 2025.

On June 14, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Danh Thang - Deputy Director of the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Finance - said: "The unit is reviewing and inventorying the number of public vehicles in districts, towns and cities to be flexible, arranging for newly established commune-level authorities, starting to operate from July 1, 2025".

According to statistics from the Dak Lak Provincial Department of Finance, from 2010 to present, the province has not provided additional funding to buy new cars for localities.

Through the review, districts, towns and cities in the province have a total of 70 public vehicles with blue plates. Among them, many vehicles have been put into liquidation, and their quality is no longer guaranteed.

According to Mr. Thang, according to the Decree issued by the Government, each commune and ward is allocated a maximum of 2 public vehicles. The province has a large area and many places have difficult roads, so the early arrangement of public transport to serve the travel needs of cadres and civil servants is very urgent.

Based on the existing norms and numbers of public vehicles, the Department of Finance will allocate 1 public vehicle to each commune and ward in advance. This is the minimum quantity to ensure basic operations for units. In fact, many communes are far away and have a large number of cadres and civil servants, so they need up to 2 vehicles to meet the travel needs.

"When implementing the two-level local government and merging the province, there will be more public vehicles in Phu Yen brought to Dak Lak. At that time, the Department of Finance will advise the Provincial People's Committee to regulate more public vehicles suitable to the characteristics of each commune and ward in the area," Mr. Thang added.

Currently, Dak Lak province has 180 commune-level administrative units. After the arrangement, the province will have 68 new administrative units (including 7 wards and 61 communes), a reduction of 112 units (equivalent to 62.22%).

Buon Ma Thuot urban area alone has 5 wards including Buon Ma Thuot, Tan An, Tan Lap, Thanh Nhat, Ea Kao and Hoa Phu commune.
