In the latest report from Axios, Meta's AI personnel will be in one of two groups: AI Products and AGI Foundations. Currently, there is no announcement of any personnel cuts related to this restructuring, all current employees will continue to work in one of the two groups mentioned above.

If users are using Meta's services such as Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp, ... the AI Products group will be the one behind the experiences when users use the service.
This group is also responsible for developing user-oriented tools and features, such as: chatbot assistants, content suggestion systems, and independent AI applications, ... that Meta is currently developing.
The group's goal is to turn AI ideas into useful practical tools for users. Whether chatting with friends, sharing photos, or receiving support from virtual assistants, the AI Products team will take on the task of improving these experiences.
Meanwhile, AGI Foundations will be responsible for upgrading and developing core AI models, especially the Llama model line, which is the focus of Meta's AI-generating efforts.
AGI Foundations will also lead long-term projects, which may not immediately impact current applications, but play a key role for Meta to maintain its position in the AI field. On the other hand, this group will ensure that the AI systems of the technology "big guys" can continue to expand, adapt and develop in the future.
Facebook's parent company Meta also announced the Llama for Startups program, which will support startups in building generative AI tools based on Meta's technology. Thereby, the company wants to expand the influence of its AI models and promote the next wave of innovation.
In addition, Meta is taking action to avoid falling behind. In the context of OpenAI, Google and Anthropic are continuously launching new steps. In April 2025, Meta held a LlamaCon event to introduce its AI tools, showing its ambition to big up with the biggest names in the industry.
