AI and data technology - a new "game" for Vietnamese billionaires

The 2026 General Meeting of Shareholders season recorded an important shift when large corporations brought AI and data into the operating core to optimize costs and business efficiency.

Vingroup's own path to building a large language ecosystem

At the annual meeting on April 22, 2026, leaders of Vingroup Group said that the enterprise (DN) is focusing on deploying the V-App system with two transition phases. In the first phase, the application focuses on serving customers and promoting online business. The long-term orientation is to develop V-App into an online-to-offline (O2O) e-commerce platform.

To support this ecosystem, Vingroup identifies data as a vital factor. From April 30, 2026, the group began to put into operation its own Large Language (LLM) system to support AI in data synthesis and analysis. Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong said that cooperation with external partners to expand data sources is necessary, in which the "You Drink, I Drive" service is one of the first test partners. These efforts are part of the group's plan to bring after-tax profit in 2026 to 35,000 billion VND, three times higher than the previous year. He also affirmed that this is part of efforts to contribute to the national miracle, where all businesses and people need to join hands to create extraordinary transformation.

Vinamilk optimizes supply chains through data

For Vinamilk, artificial intelligence is the solution to the supply chain management problem in the complex geopolitical context that increases logistics costs. This unit's technology system currently handles up to one million orders per day through direct and online retail channels.

Ms. Mai Kieu Lien - General Director of Vinamilk - assessed that the application of AI helps businesses be flexible in closing raw material prices according to different market scenarios and optimizing operating costs. Thanks to that, although purchasing power recovered slowly, the profit in the first quarter of 2026 of this unit still grew by nearly 55% compared to the same period. The enterprise also affirmed that it will focus resources on core areas and information technology infrastructure, resolutely eliminating non-core business segments such as real estate.

The effect of technology spreading in traditional industries

The wave of data application has also spread strongly to retail and industrial production. At The Gioi Di Dong, technology is used to manage KPI transparently to each employee and optimize the warehouse system for the Bach Hoa Xanh chain, aiming for a profit of 9,200 billion VND. Similarly, Masan with the "Consumer-Retail-Tech" model has helped WinCommerce significantly improve efficiency by accurately analyzing consumer behavior in each area, especially the rural market.

Even in the heavy industry sector, Hoa Phat Group identifies competitive pressure as a driving force for in-depth technology investment. Chairman Tran Dinh Long emphasized that self-rectifying the organization and perfecting the management apparatus is a mandatory requirement.

The economic picture through the 2026 AGM season shows that the revolution in operating methods is taking place deeply in large corporations. Mastering AI and big data not only helps Vietnamese billionaires adapt to the fluctuations of the global market but also improves labor productivity for the entire economy. This is a solid premise for "giants" to aim for more ambitious goals in the new strategic period.
