Apple plans to overhaul Siri

Apple is in the process of comprehensively improving Siri to catch up with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) platforms like ChatGPT.

The process is expected to be carried out in phases, lasting from 2025 to early 2026.

Apple has now introduced a number of minor changes to Siri, including text input options, a refreshed interface, and better handling of pauses while speaking.

Additionally, Siri will also have better interaction with apps and deeper integration with users' personal data, expected to launch with iOS 18.4 in spring 2025.

One of the notable upcoming changes is integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT, but according to Bloomberg, this is just a temporary solution to give Siri a more "AI" feel while Apple continues to develop its own generative AI technology.

Apple is expected to announce a comprehensive Siri overhaul at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. The new Siri could be available to users in the spring of 2026, along with the iOS 19.4 update. This will be Siri's biggest transformation yet, integrating all the previous small improvements into a unified system.

Apple’s broader vision is to build an entirely new Siri platform that reduces its reliance on external technologies to respond to user queries and commands. While the changes will be rolled out gradually, Apple emphasizes that this is a fundamental step that will give Siri a whole new level of power.
