Improvements to Siri, Apple's virtual assistant, which was originally scheduled to launch in 2025, and iOS 18.4, may be delayed.
A new report from Bloomberg said the company is facing some development obstacles, causing the launch schedule to be delayed.
A Bloomberg source also said that some of the expected features in iOS 18.4 may be delayed until May or even later.
The reason is believed to be that the internal testing process did not achieve the expected results. The features may still be integrated in iOS 18.5, but will be disabled until Apple decides to activate it.
These include Personal Context Understanding, In- App Actions, and Onscreen Awareness.
After the improvement, Siri will be able to understand commands better and perform many consecutive steps. For example, after users ask about a sports team, they can simply say When will they continue competing? and Siri will understand to find a competition schedule, even adding that event to the users schedule.
In addition to the above features, Apple is expected to continue to announce many other improvements to Siri and the Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence system in iOS 19 at the WWDC 2025 event taking place in June.
