Apple puts some MacBook products on the list of outdated products.

Apple has just added 3 Mac models to the list of obsolete products. MacBook Air Retina 2018, MacBook Pro 13-inch 2018 with 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports and MacBook Pro 13-inch 2017 with 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports are all currently classified in this category.

Previously, the above 3 models were on the list of used products. According to Apple's regulations, a device is put on the list of used products when it has been more than 5 years since the company stopped distributing for sale. After 7 years, the device will be classified as an outdated product.

Products on the old list can still be repaired at the Apple Store or authorized Apple service providers if components are still available. Meanwhile, devices that have been classified as outdated are generally no longer eligible for repair and Apple also stopped supplying replacement components.

However, Apple applies a separate repair policy for Mac laptop batteries for a maximum of 10 years from the date the product ceases to be distributed, depending on the ability to supply components. Therefore, MacBook Pro 2017, MacBook Pro 2018 and MacBook Air 2018 users can still have their batteries replaced in some cases.

MacBook Air 2018 is a noteworthy version as the MacBook Air line is equipped with a Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Retina screen for the first time. Previous generations used non-Retina screens, with lower resolution and more limited color display capabilities. This is also the year Apple redesigned the MacBook Air with thinner screen bezels, a more compact and lighter body.

The 2017 MacBook Pro uses an Intel Kaby Lake processor and is mainly a chip upgrade compared to the previous generation. In the 2018 version, Apple added True Tone screen technology for the first time, and equipped a third-generation butterfly keyboard.
