Excitedly celebrating National Day September 2nd
On the last day of August, before dawn broke, the alarm clock sounded in the barracks of the Bach Long Vi Island Defense Battalion. Young soldiers quickly started the new day with morning exercise, barracks cleaning, political study, military training and performing combat readiness duty.
In the frontline island, whether it is a normal day or major holidays of the country, each officer and soldier is always in a state of combat readiness; the joy of Independence Day goes hand in hand with the responsibility of protecting sea and island sovereignty.
During the National Day holiday, the atmosphere in the unit is somewhat more bustling. After training hours, officers and soldiers participate in sports activities and cultural exchanges. A football match, a cultural performance or moments of gathering with teammates becomes a simple joy in the open sea.
In harmony with the atmosphere of the whole country towards Independence Day, officers and soldiers of the Battalion also participated in the "Joining Vietnam to Advance" walking program with officers and people on the island. The long strides on the frontline island not only created a vibrant atmosphere during the holiday, but also spread the spirit of solidarity and attachment between soldiers and people at the forefront.
Dreams behind the uniform
For many young soldiers, this year's Independence Day is also a special time as the day of completion of military service is approaching.
Sergeant Tran Duc Hien, Platoon Leader, PK37 Platoon, from Thuy Nguyen, Hai Phong, has been attached to the island for nearly 2 years. Practicing with his comrades, on combat readiness duty and performing tasks in the specific conditions of remote islands, Hien has matured day by day in bravery and responsibility. The day of return is approaching, but for Sergeant Tran Duc Hien, Bach Long Vi has become an unforgettable part of his memory. The luggage he carries after military service will be bravery, discipline and sense of responsibility tempered at the forefront.
As for Private Tran Hoang Quan, a soldier of the Infantry Company, from Vinh Bao, Hai Phong, his days at Bach Long Vi opened up another dream. Before enlisting, Quan graduated from Hanoi University of Industry. He volunteered to go on military service to train himself. The experiences at the frontline island made Quan even more love the sea and islands and want to continue to contribute to the army.
Quan is determined to study to take the entrance exam to the Political Officer School, with the desire that if he achieves his dream, he will continue to wear the green shirt and dedicate his youth to the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
The days in the frontline island will become a valuable baggage in the life of each young soldier. That baggage is created from training sessions under the sun and wind, night shifts, from comradeship, teamwork and pride in contributing to protecting the homeland's sea and islands.
In the Independence Day season, amidst the vast white sea of Bach Long Vi, soldiers firmly believe, firmly hold their guns, guard the sea with the responsibility of today's soldiers, and at the same time carry beautiful dreams to continue building their homeland and country tomorrow.
